Have been longing for these (the neon green ones) for a long time, after seeing them on Aquarium Co-op channel. 😍 Asked several times at my usual LFS and no luck. But recently found a little store selling shrimp and some less common fish and they have a tank full. Bought my first 10 today, and aiming for a school of at least 20. 👍😁👍☺👍😃👍

Hiya Bob! I totally agree with you about emerald eyes being underrated. They school beautifully in my tank. I love them - I have at least a dozen or more. Expect an order from me for those neon blues! My harlequins, espeis, neon greens and emerald eyes need some of these neon blues to hang out with :) great species profiles!

Greens are considerably larger. They are bigger bodied as well. More like Neon Tetras.

@@isaiahmurray8153 Tetras are more fragile to parameter changes and diseases, and some of them are fin nippers. Rasboras are generally hardier and peaceful.

Never!! But I just got my first rasboras, pretty much by accident, so we'll see if they approach tetra quality :-) Next to the rasbora tank was an almost empty one with one, lone ember tetra baby. I bought him, too, because I felt so sorry for him all alone! He is now in quarantine with the rasboras, waiting to join my 8 embers. I'm happy to see him shoaling with the rasboras while he waits, and hope all 3 species will shoal... ember tetras, white cloud minnows, and these new rasboras.

Do the Green Kubotai Rasbora eat the baby shrimp? Just wondering if it is worth testing them in a RCS breeding tank or if there is a decent chance I will lose my babies...?

Yes they hunt the baby shrimplets, have enough cover for the shrimp of you want to keep them together.

Green Kubotai are not a Rasbora! They are in the danio family. Breeding them was easy if you move them to a different tank every 3 or 4 days, or else they eat their fry.

I only have 5 green kubotai, started with 7 and 2 didn’t make it. I really want to breed them, any tips would be greatly appreciated. Was thinking of trying the method of placing a mesh screen on the bottom of the tank to capture the eggs/fry...

@@brennantrueba , as long as you have a male and a female they will breed once they’re mature, but they stick their eggs to the surfaces of plants and then the fry hatch and they pin themselves to the glass and other surfaces by their face somehow. They become easy pickings for adults. They trick is to put the adults into your breeding tank for 3 or 4 days then take them out. The fry take about 72 hours to hatch. This way the adults are gone by the time the fry hatch.

@@brennantrueba also, putting them in a breeding tank that has a lot of micro fauna for them to eat is really helpful! I had tossed a piece of boiled egg in my blue shrimp tank and it got lost and I missed it in cleaning up. The zebra isopods and random copepods went to town and were crawling all over the tank. When I added the MK’s to the tank the went nuts feasting. 8 Kubotai parents seems to have given me at least 70 fry (just what I could count) in that tank in just 4 days. Now seeing how many I can successfully get to survive to juvenile maturity is all up to me.

Piece of egg was 2 weeks before the MKs were introduced, leaving a 1/2” piece of egg white in the whole time.

@@brennantrueba Tank parameters at the time of introduction; pH 6.8, gH 7, kH 4.5, Nitrate 25ppm, because the tank is well planted. TDS 200 approximately. Because of the blue cherry shrimp. No heater, because of a stable room temp of about 20 to 22 Celsius.
