This is fantastic! I think Adam Swabb's Solaris Essential and your video are a fantastic combination. As well as your neon generator, I am particularly interested in the shader process. However, it was very difficult because the network view in the video was so small. I'd love to see more of your MaterialX build process. Thank you so much.

This was awesome. Thank you. Oh- to reset your camera, just hit escape, then hit h. Will reset the view and fix the offset.

Thank you, glad it was helpful! Your solution should work, but in this case it kind of doesn't. I also noticed there's a difference depending if you're in GL or Karma view..

Regarding the black box version of Neon Generator: Are the separate components (Neon Tubes, Caps, Supports, Backplate, Beams, Cables) selectable for separate treatment in a RBD sim after the sign is generated, or would the Neon Generator node need to be copy / pasted to output each separately (sorry if I missed this information discussed in the Neon Generator tutorials already)? Fantastic additional tutorial. Really cool to see this demonstrated with Solaris, Material X, Karma in such a detailed and professional way! Thanks

To be honest I haven't thought about how to use it in RBD sims, depends what effect are you after. Exploding it all? All components of the resulting mesh can be separated by groups. If "name" attribute is necessary for sim, you can use "name from groups" node to add it.

Yes that's exactly what I had in mind.. That and dropping the sign from great height to make it smash on a floor surface. Thanks for the instruction. I'm still only a Houdini hobbyist at this time@@singlevector

For some reason I can never get the Surface Unlit to show up when i plug it into the surface output, trying to display the UV coordinates on the wall in this case. Any idea what could be causing this?

Have you assigned the material to geometry? If yes, it should work. The other thing I can imagine is if you are using "edit material network" node instead of editing the original material. Changing shader inside it didn't work for me also.

Hi, thank you for this amazing tool, I have a question, if I buy the "Black Box" version, to test it, could I upgrade it to the "Open Version" later? Could I do this by paying the additional $100 with a coupon, or would I have to pay full price? thanks.
@singlevector11 ай бұрын
Hi, there is no automatic way to upgrade, but I can make you a one use 50% discount code for open version. Just send your receipt from previous purchase to hello@singlevector.com to confirm it's you and ask for an upgrade.

thanks very much, some great tips here, anyone know how to make object glow in karma? does it have to be a post process? could it be done with volume box or something? (i want a glowing planet atmosphere)
@singlevector9 ай бұрын
Thank you! Regarding glow, there are no post effects in Karma. Volume box can work, but it will be significantly slower to render compared to a post effect. Really depends what you're after.

This is just fantastic, so many good tips, watched it to the end. Is it to much to ask for more? :D Thank you!
@singlevector Жыл бұрын
Happy to hear that! I think short tutorials about specific things are very useful, but imo longer ones are as important to understand the process and mindset behind it. What tutorials would you like to see?

To correct viewport in solaris, try to use upper icons then you press alt to rotate viewport ( square in red circle) There are some other icons that can fix viewport without creating new camera. Or maybe option to rotate around selection not on? (These are just assumptions)

Do you have a viewport lag when u select and object ?
@singlevector Жыл бұрын
Don't think so. For me lag occurs mostly when doing geometry related changes.
