What??? There is 2 tasks after you reach the first hjalmar's camp, then you pick up 2 different trails with Geralt's witcher senses, if you decided to take left and go to the end, wouldn't it bother you guys to not know what you missed if you went right first? I mean usually when I encounter these situations, I try to follow the path where I'm not supposed to go first, to be able to do everything that's possible and not fail anything, of course in 2015 when I first played, I didn't know which path I should take, so I just saved manually at the point before I needed to make a choice, and then follow one path, then come back to the other path and do something about it and keep going back and forth until I realize what I need to do to complete all tasks from one path and then switch to the other path to follow it through to the end properly and correctly, nowadays of course I already know what I can do first before finishing the quest incompletely, so I finish all the side tasks first and then go to the place where you finally meet hjalmar

Another thing english speakers might not have realized is that "undvik" literally means "avoid" in swedish. It made me really wanna go there the first time I heard it lol. The pronunciation Geralt is using sound closer to swedish so that's the right one in my book. I always liked how Skellige seemed a bit like vikings had taken over England and together their culture and language sort of mixed and became a hybrid of the two. Not quite Anglo - Saxon and not quite viking either.
@NeonKnight3 жыл бұрын
That's cool! Also, cool take on Skellige - never thought of it like that.
@DirtCobaine Жыл бұрын
Well Vikings did take over England and everything that ensued was just like you said 😂 lol but I know what you meant. People don’t realize just how “Nordic/Danish/Swedish” England really was. It would’ve looked much like Skellige. Course not the badass armor especially like Lugos clan wears (my favorite armor in the whole game especially the helmets besides the normal infantry helmets of the Nilfgaardians which look very similar those cool metal looking horns on their Ancient Roman style helmets)
@DirtCobaine Жыл бұрын
Clan Drommund armor. That’s one thing I LOVE about Skellige if you pay attention. All clans have unique armors and especially unique helmets. Like I said the coolest helmets in the game aside from Nilfgaard. In fact I feel like Clan Drommund probably got their helmets from dead Nilfgaardians during their raids. Because they look really similar to what the Nilfgaardians wear. And not only that, they look more Roman than the Nilfgaardians we see in game. But who knows Nilfgaard is such a huge empire I’d bet the clan Drommund helmets do come from a specific Legion of a specific province.

During my first run of the game. I was wandering around hunting / clearing secret locations to level up when suddenly the cutscene where the ice giant was feeding the harpies near the shipwreck started. I remember spending almost 2 hours trying to finish this quest with no markers or any details. met Hjalmar the first time ever when he was busy fighting this wyvern thingy. and the dialogue between the two made me pause the game and search online to find out that I'm in the middle of a mission that's started by accident.

this exact thing happened to me!! i went to undvik first thing in skellige to get the master armorer's tools. remember thinking what an interesting, unique area it was in comparison to the rest of skellige... until that first cutscene when i realised id started a quest by accident. funny thing is i obviously hadnt even met hjalmar and cerys at that point, so when geralt started saying all that stuff about tailing hjalmars men i had no idea who he was talking about :') think i got all the way through to the giants meat locker for the tools and then left before i ruined the quest too badly lmao

So cool that you decided to cover this specific quest
@cappew223 жыл бұрын
This might be a basic question, but what about the mini- quest that the jarl of undvik gives you? The one where you need to collect twine & nails? I don't think I've ever actually found all the required material. Does it actually do anything? One of the most in- depth Witcher videos I've ever seen, really well made!
@NeonKnight3 жыл бұрын
It's kind of confusing - there's no actual quest twine you need to find, you just need the common crafting twine you'll definitely already have. The nails are a quest item you have to find, so it's a little weird. To answer your question, you just get a little XP if you give the items to him before killing the giant. If you wait until after, no XP. It doesn't make a difference in his ending or anything.

Both of these have happened to me my first play through because I tend to do too much exploring in open world games(if that’s even possible), so I had already found both the griffin nest and some buckthorn. Hey fellow Witcher fans! This game has gripped me like no other. The music, the sense of adventure, an amazing world to explore, and the huge journey are some of what really appeals to me. I love extreme contrasts for some reason and this game delivers. Consider how vastly different the setting is where you start in the room with Yen enjoying a bath compared to where the adventure ends with you enjoying some mandrake hooch with Regis over-looking a small lake in Toussaint and sooooo much variety in between! I like to climb back into that very room at Kaer Morhen (VERY DIFFICULT, but possible) at level 100 and reminisce. It’s sad and lonely without Yen, Vesimir, Lambert, and Eskel tho! It’s also nice to go back to White Orchard and visit the campsite you camped at with Vesimir. Such an amazing game… Anyway, thanks for reading!

Here's a little bonus from my experience. If you inspect the corpse at 7:48 without starting the quest OR finding Folen, Geralt will say the line "Hjalmar lost a lot of men here" anyways, even though you have no idea what's going on on the island. This actually happened to me on my first playthrough, when I came to Skellige and went straight for the Armorer tools. That specific line made me feel like I was missing something important, so I left Undvic as soon as I got the tools, fearing I might be breaking some quest. Turns out everything was accounted for except for that one corpse interaction.

Good channel. Though I do think most of these unusual ways to do the quests are remnants of a design philosophy that was abandoned at some point during development - seems that the original intention was to give the player more options to do the quests in a non-linear order instead of railroading the player towards the usual route. It's definitely cool that these things work, but would I personally have rather had a more fleshed out third act of the game instead? Probably.

I remember trying to do this but I couldn't find the way into the cave before the quest, I searched for a few hours for an open entrance because I had gone up to the forge nearby for the master tools, but I never found the entrance, sad to see I almost found this out on my own so I'm happy to be able to experience it here! Keep up the amazing content! 😍

I have watched so many of similar videos but I still find new things in yours. Impresive job, keep it up. There is never enough good Witcher 3 content. And thank you. :-D I am now going through Witcher 1 and these videos make me want to skip Witcher 2 to play 3 again.

Thanks for doing the job of breaking the game to find its secrets. I am always interested in discovering something new in this old but still gold game.

Great content as always, man. I've spent over 200 hours in this game and still didn't know who Folan and The Jar of Unvik were until I saw this video

In my witcher playtrought first thing i did in skelige was this quest to find Tools for the Grandmaster armorer in Velen and i thought that this ice gigant was just a side quest. Thanks to you now i know that it isn't just a side quest XD

Holy shit, there's so much more to this quest than I ever thought. On most of my playthroughs, I just ran straight to hjalmar, and during one playthrough, I went through the cave with a tree, I didn't even know there were other npcs on Undvik apart from Hjalmar and Vigi, even the troll chefs.
