Despite appearances, Mel and Griff weren't quite facing each other - they were staggered so they wouldn't look at each other and corpse. This was the only way they could get through filming these brilliant skits.
@Crazy1Clive2 ай бұрын
All filmed in one take in front of a studio audience, which meant a lot of pressure on Mel not to corpse as Griff had most of the funny lines and they couldn't afford to reshoot as the audience would have already heard most of the skit.

If you look closely you'll see that Mel Smith is about 2 feet closer to the camera, it's a forced perspective shot. They did it so they could see their notes off camera.

+Captain Calculus , didn't notice that till you mentioned it chief, i'll now look at things differently!
@chriswatson79656 жыл бұрын
TheLyingTruthTeller - I would have thought that was pretty good evidence that he was 2 foot closer to the camera. If you follow Griff's eyes you'll notice he has a hard job not occasionally looking at Mel like at 2:50
@slashingraven6 жыл бұрын
2:26 Look at Griff's hands at the bottom of the frame. They're in front of Mel's left arm. This isn't forced perspective.
@TheTruthKiwi5 жыл бұрын
Good point but not sure if it's as much as 2 feet. Griff looks straight ahead a lot and Mel is slightly to his left so the notes are probably straight ahead of him off camera as you say.
@Wally-H4 жыл бұрын
It also stopped them from corpsing which surely would have been a big problem

Great duo comedy. They’d be just as at home in Vaudeville or Japan.

I note the Norwegian for ‘marvellous’ is ‘fantastick’. That sounds suspiciously like just misspelling the English.
@2strokepower8034 жыл бұрын
Its the same in swedish. A Lot of words has been "borrowed" from the English and then remade to fit our languages better

Maybe. Peter Cook and Dudley Moore were the main influence with their Dagenham Duologues.
