I feel like people forget that diving is about having fun. If you get cold it isn't fun anymore, so changing something to make you warmer makes complete sense.

Bogy 1 Kinoby No not necessarily. I own a Poseion Unisuit Exclusive, which is 7mm neopren and is 20 years old and still going steong. Super super warm, very robust and easy to fix. If you buy your suit the correct size you can fit enough liners beneath. I dived in 3 degree celsius for over an hour with only some long ski baselayer, a midweight fleece jacket, some joggers and was warm for the entire dive. And I am flexible enough for ever task I have to do under water. I actually don‘t know why trilaminate is so popular...

Informative and very correct. I would personally say that the O’Three range of neoprene Drysuits are truly world leading!

Hogarthian and DIR is all about minimizing 'points of failure' on the diver's rig, right? I would not call the fact that your buoyancy changes with depth a 'point of failure'. some people take it all a bit far I feel.

One other factor that I don't see people talking about much is the weight needed. I dive a Santi E.Lite with a Fourth Element Arctic expedition undersuit + thermal underwear to be warm in winter here in Belgium. Honestly I have to use way more weights comparatively to get under than some of my friends diving a neoprene drysuit with a thinner undersuit. A friend of mine diving the same setup even stopped drysuit diving altogether due to a bad back and being incapable of supporting the weight. Now I do love my Santi but I will definitely be trying a neopene drysuit as well to compare when I get the chance.

Id rather dive a neoprene drysuit , warmer for sure , I find them more comfortable for sure ... if the suit becomes compromised it then acts like a wetsuit , if a Trilaminate is torn its going to get very cold quickly ... but Id say dive what you feel most comfortable in ..

The best suit I have tried was a regular neoprene. A pain in the ass to get it on but very confortable and cosy dive. And the venting on excess air in it seemed a lot more easy than my regular trilam.

Achim, which Dry Suit Model did you choose when you made the decision to buy a neoprene drysuit?

Mate love the chanel, have learnt plenty about other people’s ways & methods, but I have to ask & this is not a critique of you either. Why do you keep saying that neoprene drysuites aren’t good for deep diving? The guys from the Wet Mules (Richard Harris & Craig Chalen two of the Thai cave rescue guys) use neoprene drysuites exclusively for all their diving. Including dives in New Zealand & Australia in excess of 130+ metres in the Pacific Ocean & in the deep +200 metre cave system dives that they have done. I’m just trying to understand what’s so wrong with them. As for the “dir” divers, who cares what they think. I learnt to dive from GUE as well & love the training but the sheep mentality is what made me leave. No point arguing with rich sheep/ drones who can’t think for themselves. On another note. Here in Australia, we pretty much all use steel tanks (Fabre 12.2 litre at approx 13 kilos each) for diving, including ALL GUE’s! Other then the sausage factory dive shops, almost everyone uses steel tanks for back gas & aluminium tanks for stage & deco use. For rebreathers, I’m not too sure as I’m not a breather diver yet, but again, all GUE’s here in Australia at least use steel breather tanks & most of my mates use steel tanks too. Hire gear (single open circuit) gear is mostly aluminium, guessing they get it cheaper. Keep the videos coming. I don’t always agree with you, but that’s just me. Love the chanel, safe diving👌

HI Victor, thanks for this honest messge! appreciated. I posted this already on FB - but I guess it answers your questio: the thing is, that the buoyancy change leeds to an overweighting scenario as you need more lead on the surface and in shallow water then you would need when when deep. Therfore you have too much weight when deep - and that is where you defenately do not want that extra weight. If you do a lot of deep cold stuff I would go for the crushed neopren - like the DUI CF200 - I was pretty happy with that and did some realy long deep wreck dives in the baltic and some german lakes all aroun 0-4°C. togther with a rebreather that worked pretty well. if I dive - for example - a Bi-12 with 14.4 kg each with my trilam I do not need any extra weight in fresh water and 1,5 kg in saltwater. if i dive the same setup in my neoprensuit I need 4 KG on the surface but could easily ditch those 4 kg if deeper then 50 meters... So I would be 4 kg overweighted from there on - actually a bit more if deeper. that is something you definately want to avoid. . hope this helps Cheers Achim

InnerSpace Explorers - ISE hey Achim, thanks for the prompt response. Ok, I’m aware of the extra weight issue with regards to neoprene, but I didn’t think it applied to crushed neoprene as much. I currently dive a 4 year old Fourth Element dry suit myself & was looking at a neoprene suit as I’m not a fan of the lack of flexibility in trilaminate suits. Perhaps it’s just my lack of experience as it’s my first suit, so nothing to compare with. Thanks again mate & safe diving to you & your team✌️

Hi, but what about electric warming? Do you have any experience with? I think it’s a pretty nice solution to cold water and long diving. Bit heavier but everything recompense comfort - warm and pleasure dive. What do you think?
@CoastalDevelopment
@CoastalDevelopment 5 жыл бұрын
True - but all I ever tested I found unrelyable and rather uncomfortable. the other thing is that You have no backup. if it fails, it fails - so you cant rely on it.

Yes it’s true, but personally I dive big part of year in cold Norwegian water, this kind of solution helps very well. If it’s some kind of feil I just ended dive. But it was not a problem yet with my system. I hope it’s gonna be good in future. This one what I use it’s Santi and Ammonite system battery 12,4 Ah. Good for 2-2,5 hour dive. Happy new year, and thanks for your work!

@@GreenWaterStudio Cheaper option is to get a pack of Body Warmers from a chemist. They work really well in a dry suit and stay warm for up to 10 hours. It is simply a paper-thin strip that sticks to your shirt and heats you nicely.
