Regarding Nepathya's concert song "TAAL KO PANI" The concert was shot and performed at 2004-2005, wherein the country was in the midst of a armed revolution. The concert was called shanti sangit yatra i.e. Travelling for peace and music, wherein they shot various concerts in various armed conflict zones throughout the country.

Thank you for this reaction. Nepalese is closer to Hindi. They are derived from the same proto language called Sanskrit and also follow similar but not the same writing script. We also follow the same scale sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa. We have 12 vowels and 36 consonants roughly in our language. Training in singing is also quite similar to indian classical as far as I've seen with many practicing with a harmonium accompaniment. However that's only the case for nepali vha-sa (meaning language) which is the primary language. Most neplese people speak at least 3 languages. Usually Nepali, Hindi, English and one other mother toungue depending on their birth place/community.
@WizInsight1082 жыл бұрын
It is bhasha (भाषा). There is a difference between v and bha. Nepali script is Devanagari, the same as Hindi and Sanskrit. Other than folk, Nepali music is Hindustani-based.

If you ever do our music again, please more on Albatross, they are the ones who wrote Nischal. They are the pioneers of Nepalese rock music and a huge part of every 90s born teenager's life. Not a single song of theirs which doesn't have a riff that's gonna get stuck for the rest of your life, and that most people would say is still an understatement
@sublime95257 ай бұрын
Dude what are you yapping about? I know the boys from albatross personally but they aren’t the “pioneers” of rock in Nepal lol. Nepathya, 1974 ad, robin n looza, etc are the pioneers of mainstream rock in Nepal. If you know the history of albatross, they started as a stoner / sludge metal band. Their first album Hi Fly was a stoner metal album. Only their second album Jo Jas Sanga Sambandhit chha was more alternative and more accessible alternative rock. Now, everyone seems to know and love them and they made alternative rock popular but the rock history in Nepal started way before albatross.

Sorry for 2 long explanations. Reason for similarities in language on subcontinent is that these groups have been intermingling for thousand's of years. And the languages are part of same language family Indo-European who broke into at least 2 branches proto-European and Sanskrit. Sort like how Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, french have similar base structure & other things in common because are part of Romance Family (Rome/Latin based) & are 1st cousins. On subcontinent, you have 2 ancient language parents (Sanskrit and Dravidian) where the majority of the languages come from. Some intermarried with others like Urdu has a lots of Persian parts but I can understand a lot of it as I have passing knowledge of some Hindi. Nepalese is as if Sanskrit married to Tibet languages. So northern subcontinent languages are 1st & 2nd cousins with each other while they are 5th - 10thh cousins with European language and 3rd & 4th cousins with southern continental languages like Tamil, Telugu, Sinhalese. However Tamil, Telugu, Sinhalese are first cousins to each as they are derived from Dravidian - other ancient language of subcontinent. Also in late 90's I had a classmate who was from Nepal - she spoke like 6 different languages, her Hindi was flawless and I asked how she learned it - her response was Indian cinema as they grew up watching those in Nepal and southeast Asia. Also as Buddhism spread out of India into Southeast Asia so did it language - Even in Japan some of religious texts are in Sanskrit. So yeah - some derivative or combination of Sanskrit and Dravidian. Now one can see many languages there also are incorporating English after 250 years of British in India. Not giving up there languages but folding in new language. Base structure is same though. So when I look at it - I kinda treat languages & countries as people/families - most are related but some are more related than others. Also I see keep running across an issue in your videos from subcontinent - so here quick overview. -British forced out in 1947 after hundreds of years brutal rule. -Partition of India August 1947 based on religion versus cultural affiliation and long standing history in region - maps draw in 5 weeks by someone who had never there and would never back. -(East & West) Pakistan (West Pakistan is now Bangladesh) on Midnight Aug 14, 1947 -India Gained Independence at Midnight Aug 15, 1947 -2 states got broken in as part of Partition because they had largest group of people with different religions. Thus state of Punjab in both Pakistan & India and State of Bengal (India) and country of Bangladesh. -Largest forced human history - 10-15 million people (Numbers are very very fuzzy) -Between 1-2.5 million people killed mostly in Punjab and Bengal regions. (Numbers are very very fuzzy) -Super sad because we are Punjabi but grandfathers left Punjab prior to partition so we identify as Indian but really relatives from both side of border so technically both Indian and Pakistani origin?????
