My take: There are 3 Haris within the protagonist, who is suffering from Bipolar disorder. Depressed hari: The devil. He is the victim of the childhood trauma and is always worried and anxious. He killed that depressed hari at the end by jumping from the building. Manic hari: The god. Represented by godman (jogi). He fired Aakash, do whatever he wants to do and tries to save himself. He is killed by accident (symbolic) or the treatment. Normal Hari: The man. He is the one who comes to action only when the sarangi is played. He knows about love and normality. He is the only one that remains after the treatment in the hospital. The sarangi is played till the end, which suggested that he got better. Thats my theory. The entire movie is symbolic.

thats a good interpretation on symbols used in the movie.. the symbols are literally potrayed in the movie. Like the one where 'Manic' Hari who is more expressive and fearless, vents out to his mother after coming home drunk, spending the night away.. when he vented out everything, we see chickens and egss coming out of his mouth. Well, they are not literally coming out.. Its a symbol again, to represent that everything (emotions) he had supressed within himself, has now come out.. and they used chicken as the symbol here maybe because now he will be a different HARI who's gonna be NON-VEG. and, manic hari( (jogi) was the personality of hari that helped him change. Change the old beliefs within which he had tied himself for 30 years. Jogi personality also helped him get rid of the office mate he disliked (firing aakash) but also he need to get to rid of JOGI personality as well, because although it helped him CHANGE AS A PERSON TO BECOME A BETTER VERSION OF HIMSELF, it was a MANIC personality Jogi was like that personality he created to help himself get rid of the depression and trauma and become new better version of himself BUT ONE THING I DONT GET IT.. THE Jogi killed Aakash, didnt he? with rod.. okay let's say Aakash and his wife were imagination of hari into making himself believing that it's not his but aakash's idea to rob, where The Guard Got Killed too.. Then in that case it's HARI HIMSELF WHO KILLED THE GUARD..now isnt HARI gonna be convicted of this? its good that hari is now a better person and jogi personality is no longer present, but it was still hari who killed, Murdered.. now isnt he is a murderer even if maybe he doesnt even remember? and what was that BANDAGED hari in the end eating CHICKEN after getting out of the hospital? was that the JOGI personality still alive, with probablity of coming back to save HARI again in future because he is gonna land in trouble with murder investigation? maybe jogi is not killed completely, he is injured but available to come back anytime HARI needs help again in future.. WHAT DO U THINK?

Did not notice the significance of the vegetarian and non-veg component being the symbol as well. Thanks for pointing it out. Regarding your queries, I don't think they want to justify hari as a good person or an innocent being. And your question also tells the answer itself, "No matter what you do, the scar of the wound remains" and maybe eating non-veg can be explained as a form of scar of the past wound or wrongdoing. Have you watched a beautiful Nepali movie named " Sanghuro". It is a very well directed movie, not much use of symbolism but direction, story telling and premise is absolutely a beautiful piece of art.

A perfect psychological thriller movie. The movie was a bit slow but that was necessary for this type of genres. For those who didnt gasped the movie . 1st half:Before hari met Jogi You guys may have noticed the ticking sounds in background which is a clock sound at very beginning of the movie.It was to represent his balanced life. More The character hari had suppressed a lot of desires,which is the motive here(e.g. include being parnami) ,the character had fear too which is also a necessary element. The ridi g of bike was also smooth in 1st half. 2nd half: When hari meets jogi It is important aspect of movie and you may have noticed that the jogi is bipin karki himself So now it is confirmed that he is in illusion. Hari falling in love with Sarangi playing in background also shows he was merely imagining things. In 2nd half, the ticking sound is slowed(1/2 times slower) ,making viewers know that something is wrong. Moreover, there is drastic changes in Haris behaviour(like acceleration of bike,drinking booze,etc. ) Hari robs the finance he was working as he previously had felt so suppressed by his work. Hari had always fear from Akash, so his mind manipulated that robbing the bank was aakash idea when it was infact his own idea. In reality he robs the bank and presumes himself to be hostage. Now the main question is does hari realises he is in illusion? Yes he does. He dies and that is the end of story. The mala given by jogi proves to be a tape so that proves he was in illusion. This movie is influenced from Sanjit upreti's novel Ghanchakkar,which is a masterpiece in nepali literature. Books like this Ghanchakkar-Sanjib Upreti Ek Sarko maya - G.S. poudel Anuradha-Bijay malla Pagal Basti - Sarubhakta Movie like this Fight club,shutter Island,inception,etc.

Questions If Hari and jogi are same person, what part of the movie actually happened and what part is the fragment of Hari (who later became a Jogi)'s Imagination. Has his mother already died? Never expected this kind of cinema from Nepali film industry. This movie was exceptionally good. For me this is the best Nepali movie I have seen till date. It was just fantastic. I considered this movie is the greatest Nepalese movie after Kagbeni. It seems that Director has lots of influence from Hollywood directors especially Wes Anderson. This movie created the benchmark for the upcoming directors and actors where content is important. Cinema can be presented in a different way and has different genre including noir and surreal. The movie narrates the story of Hari where he is an adult but still lacks confidence and always procrastinate. Will you considered him Adult where his life is fully controlled by his Mom where he cannot made any judgment by himself. His usual routine is getting busy at work and stay at home. He falls in love with girl which of course he procrastinated about it like Secret life of Walters Mitty. The best part of the movie is Sarangi played by the guy which is quite intriguing and melody. Hari lacks confidence and is an introvert with low emotional intelligence skills. Even in his thirties he does not have any sex experience. He is haunted by his childhood trauma. The sad part is he cannot made decision even on food by himself. Hats off to Actor Bipin Karki where he is able to portray character image by his great acting skills. Cinematography of the movie is awesome. This kind of movie will challenge other writer, actors, director and cinematographer be more imaginative and creative.

Interesting review. Thanks for your recommendation. I'm very interested in Nepali movies having visited Nepal many times (and will return again next year) but my understanding of Nepali language is limited ma matra alikati Nepali bhujxu, so I can only really fully enjoy the movies with English subtitles. Three of my favourites are Seto Surya, Pashupati Prasad and Kagbeni. I'm now looking forward to watching Hari and as I also love Sarangi sangeet, I'm also looking forward to hearing that.. (Btw, I'm also a big Wes Anderson fan). 🙏

Movie ramro cha tara nepali ko bani nai ho hunchha ni, hya bhai halyo ni k farak parcha ra jhau mannee, I meant to say carelessness in the subtitles actually when it is attached internally within frame, these are the little things that matters, could have made it externally or done it in proper timing, and about the movie the one who enjoy this kind of movie knows how good Hari is.
