Wow, insane shots of the epiphyte veitchiis high up the trees, absolutely stunning! Never seen such gigantic veitchiis. I like your editing and music, aswell as some raw audio, like the cicadas at 15:00 ♥ It reminds me of Gunung Mulu. I will never forget the sound of gibbons in the morning, no words can describe. Was this within the kelabit highlands? Thinking of going to peninsular Malaysia and Borneo again in a few weeks and maybe hike to Batu Lawi or somewhere in the hose mountains... your videos get me very excited now :D great work. Btw 10:50 could be fractiflexa ;)

Thank you so much! Recording sounds on location is a wonderful thing! This was quite far from Kelabit highlands. I also have Batu Lawi on my list..I really hope I will be able to come back to Borneo soon!

amazing video ! what was the temp in there ? (the climbing veitchii)
@leonardogrillo88 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! It was quite warm during a sunny day and then the temperature dropped quite a lot in the night, even to 10 degrees C. But on a cloudy and rainy day it was very cold also during the day! So those plants just love a cooler range in general, I would say.

After watching three videos about carnivorous plants, I want to ask how much does it cost to hike to these places? For example, travel expenses, tickets
@leonardogrillo88 Жыл бұрын
It really depends on the place, but I can tell you that hiking on certain mountains can be extremely expensive because you need guides, maybe porters, permits and transport fees. The best is to share the cost with multiple people.
@索隆的路 Жыл бұрын
@@leonardogrillo88 Yes, places that need a guide are very expensive. I heard that the guide to Tambuyukon Mountain charges $200 a day.
@leonardogrillo88 Жыл бұрын
Yes Tambuyukon by yourself can easily cost you almost a 1000$
@tiamat87 Жыл бұрын
The prices you guys writing here are obscene :O Back in 2017 i organised a Tambuyukon trip myself and went there with two buddies. Permit&guide in Kinabalu NP headquarter cost us nearly 220€ per person for the 4days trip on Tambuyukon including the taxi from headquarter to Moggis and from there to Poring. We got their early morning by minibus from KK which cost 5 bucks. We also bought some food&gas before in KK. It mainly depends on yourself: Do you need a hotel? Do you eat at mc donalds? Do you book a trip in a tourist office? Do you need a porter? Do you wanna be driven half way up? Do you need camping equipment? The more yes, the more expansive. Flight prices definitly went up. From Kuching to Mulu and further to KK we payed like 30-40€ each which probably cost you 4-5 times as much now. Ofc prices might went up since 2017, but an organised trip will obviously cost you way(!!) more. Its also depending on how many people you are as you need 1 guide for every 3 persons and additional costs if you need porters. Keep in mind famous mountains like Kinabalu/Trus madi are the most expansive as tons of people wanting to hike up there for multiple reasons. If you dont mind seeing more widespread nepenthes on Borneo you can just visit roadsides or areas like Bako NP, Mamut coppermine, etc very cheap and easy traveling with minibus for example. The mossy forests on Borneo are one of a kind. On Indonesia or Philippines there are way less Nationalparks so you usually dont need official permits, but have to ask in the village if you are allowed to go up.Transportation&Language in Indonesia especially can be quite a challenge. Renting a car and knowing a local makes things a lot easier there.
