Hi love the video! I always get nepenthes while they are small, I just find them so cute. I prefer seed grown most times, unless it's a plant I could never afford unless it was cloned haha. 🌱🌺

I'm glad you showed that one in the background. I kept staring at it. I have a personal limit to not spend more than $150 on a plant and I rarely ever do that. Maybe if I get a huge amount of cash gifts for Christmas. I prefer plants from 0 - 60 dollars. I have to REALLY want something to go above that. I wish some nepenthes weren't so stupidly expensive and readily available. There are some I may never have because of my personal limit or they are so rare I missed my chance when they were available.
@redleafexotics47223 жыл бұрын
Limits are important! I never had any and would have to ask my family and friends to help! Ha there will always be affordable one and the market has a long way to go. With Hybridizing and the growth of the hobby, there will be more plants available in the coming years, but there will always be those new showy hybrids with a tag. Thankfully they aren’t aroids ha

I agree that some are expensive but I understand since there are factors to consider and you fully showcased all of them so I am happy to stumble on your video. Managed to snag a baby ventrata for $5 (has 8 pitchers but due to shipping, lost 4 but I am positive that it will thrive well) but I can imagined that it is very expensive if it's the mature one hahaha and if it's the more exotic looking nepenthes.

Your best video! I’ve not only understood the price of nepenthes, but also nepenthes’ physiology! I see they grow slowly. If that wasn’t the case, everybody would have nepenthes of 1000$. Your video has helped me to be patient with mine’s!

The information was great ! I’m a new enthusiast I have three plants that live outside most of the year. I just added a N. Jungle Bells. I bought it because of its color, thanks to your video it will be a couple of years before I will know for sure. Is there a way to know when you order a plant if it’s seed or culture? My first plant is a giant it’s a few years old and puts out blooms I have found out it’s a male plant. Not sure what I’ll do with that information. I’m very interested in learning more about the species. Thanks for the information, Gloria

Another great educational video Dom! How about a video featuring problems encountered with leaves (e.g. red or purpling on typically green foliage), pitchers (e.g. deformed pitchers), and flowers (e.g. aborting)? Insect (e.g. scale) and other pests (e.g. mollusks, rodents)? What insecticides and fungicides? Topical or systemic? It might be good to hear about some of the challenges that present themselves with growing Nepenthes as well.

Thanks for the video. It was nice to know what aspects of a plant's details determine it's value. It's a shame I don't have a greenhouse so there is no point in me spending a huge amount of money on a really special napenthe because it will never live up to its full potential in my flat, but it's still nice to know why I see some for what appear to be outrageous amounts & understand they may not be as outrageously priced as they appear after all. ! Lol. Your passion for these plant's is a little infectious also! 😁

This confuses me so much as with the different types of plants and how you are to care for them. What do you do when it cools down? As winter here can be very cold and I honestly don't know if I should leave them outside in my shadehouse or bring them inside. Could you give me some ideas.
