My enclosure isn’t large enough for her plant and a laying bin, my question is should I just remove her plant (which is very full with lots of stems/leaves) & just put the laying bin inside her enclosure? I will put a stick down in there for her… I have her in a quiet room so she won’t be disturbed… I am not sure if she’s got eggs yet but I’m trying to make sure I am prepared! Your videos have helped me tremendously!! I cannot tell you how much I’ve learned from you, THANKS SO MUCH!!! 💕

Sounds like she could benefit from a larger enclosure so that she has room for her laying bin and having lots of plant coverage and sticks to climb on. Her laying bin doesn't have to be very big, a shoe box sized bin would work just fine. Took her to vet because she was dropping from branches and didn't know why. Found out she was developing eggs. Took x-rays and saw them they were just the yolks yet. Vet gave me liquid calcium to make her stronger and help with shell formation. She's due to lay in mid Oct. She's my little sweet pea and doing everything in my power to make it easier on her. I have a big window box with a Star Jasmine in it she loves to climb. Lay bin is opposite side with sand/topsoil mix. my vet calls to check on her once a week. I will keep you all posted. =)

Hello again. The wife noted something which I had'nt thought of TBH and that is - The egg laying bin (15" tall flower pot which is !0" wide) will be filled with wet (ish) sand for her but we also have a automatic misting system for both Arwen's and Ziggy's vivarium but we need to come up with a way that won't have the sand becoming saturated with water as the mister is tied into both enclosures and goes off x3 daily. Any ideas from yourself or any of your subscribers would be appreciated as this is a real head scratcher just now.
@NeptunetheChameleon3 жыл бұрын
As mentioned at 12:41 you can drill holes in the bottom to help with drainage. Also there is such a thing of a laying bin that is too big. If it’s too big than she will be exerting more effort than what is needed. Hope this helps!!
@IainHamilton3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The way Arwen's growing I think she'll need a bigger vivarium (got one waiting in the wings for her) sooner rather than later. I'll need to watch this one again - never thought of drilling the holes TBH. Suprised the missus did'nt spot that one.

Throw away the eggs 2. Get a laying bin set up and always leave it inside her enclosure 3. Do not leave your chameleon unattended outside of their enclosure and don’t fall asleep while they are outside of their cage 😅

Hi! Got a question.. Do you only give you chameleon Calcium powder? Cause you said don't feed with vitamin D3? So should I only feed crickets with calcium? Or did you mean like just don't feed D3 when they lay eggs but usually use vitamins?
@NeptunetheChameleon3 жыл бұрын
I meant to not exclusively use calcium with D3. Calcium without D3 should be used daily and calcium with D3 and a multivitamin should be used 2x/month. Here is my video about supplements: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH2yf3aNbtmGhqM

How do you know if the eggs have baby inside or if they don't? Is there a way or- something way to tell if there's some thinging hiding inside the little shell?
@NeptunetheChameleon3 жыл бұрын
Usually if they've been with a male they're fertile. If they haven't, then they are infertile.

I saw another video of a girl who just used coconut fiber substrate and she like made it moist and everything could that still work for a veiled chameleon to lay eggs or would you recommend using the sand more... only thing was I already got two bags of the coconut fiber substrate but i could definitely get the sand
@Kokkoro_3 жыл бұрын
I’m so sorry one more question but I can’t seem to find a hood for the T5 Reptisun UVB any recommendations of where I can get one? mine is 22 inches long (she has a pretty big enclosure) (6ft tall and 2 feet wide)
@NeptunetheChameleon3 жыл бұрын
I would not recommned coconut fiber as a substrate for a chameleon under any circumstances :/ For your T5 fixture, check out Amazon, Light Your Reptiles, and Reptile Basics. Here are some other places: www.chameleonforums.com/sponsors/. Also, since your enclosure is 6ft tall you may want to consider getting a 10.0/12% so that you can get the correct UVI levels. The 5.0/6% is the recommendation for 4ft tall enclosures.

Hi, is bioactive enclosures with about 8-12" substrate ok to have instead of a lay in?
@NeptunetheChameleon3 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on what your substrate you use. Most keepers use washed play sand for their laying bins.
@martinmatthews30033 жыл бұрын
I plan to make it quite a sandy dirt substrate (mix of top soil, moss, play sand, fired clay) so I'm hoping this is enough.

Hi my chameleon is a male and recently I've noticed him right down at the bottom branches alot once he was even on the soil of a plant pot just walking around. Nothing has changed and my temps are correct. Is that OK? I worry alot about him and I'm not sure if he might be hungry searching for food or maybe looking for a mate? Thanks in advance
@NeptunetheChameleon3 жыл бұрын
Are you sure they are male? If they are male, then odds are they are just exploring their territory and looking for a mate.

how common is the gender mix up from breeders because Samson is already showing peachy/pink colors (he's 4 months btw) is this common in young chams? thx for any help!

Unfortunately, very common. Especially with baby panther chameleons. It's hard for me to say without seeing a picture of them.

Hello I wanted to know about what the colors of a panther chameleon mean for example if they are stressed what color would they be?

Panthers usually get darker in color when they are stressed.

Im scared AF having a new female in my life. I built her a full bioactive terrarium with a false bottom and full top quality soil medium and about 4 planted plants. Will she be able to use that set up and soil for her eggs or do I need to deconstruct and give her a bin?
@NeptunetheChameleon3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the female and how deep the soil is.

Will a female with an infertile clutch still display gravid colors? My girl dug around a bit in her lay bin but hasn't laid and when she's sleeping her colors look receptive, During the day she just shows unhappy darker green colors. I can see visible lumps, and her abdomen is engorged, I am playing a waiting game right now when she will dig in her lay bin again and lay the eggs or when I should decide to take her to a vet. She is still eating as normal and her eyes are not sunk in at all. Her last urate was 75% white and had a normal bowel movement. What's more confusing is she has laid two random eggs a few days apart on top of her lay bin. I can tell she still has more to go.
@NeptunetheChameleon Жыл бұрын
Yes she’ll still display gravid colors. If she’s starting to drop eggs but hasn’t buried the rest of them, I’d seriously consider taking her to the vet soon. She may lay them on her own but she also may need some help.

My female veiled went down last night after spending a couple of hours with my male in the same tree and turned almost black. This morning she was still digging and monkeying around until around 3:00pm. She's way skinny now and I was fearing she was gravid. What happens if I don't dig up the eggs?

What do you do if your chameleon has laid her eggs but she keeps going back down to her bin?? It’s been over 24 hours, she did come up to feed & hydrate & seems to be extremely skinny now & “finished” but when we go to get the bin out to get the eggs, she’s in the bin again!!?? Please help! Tysm!

She might still have more eggs to lay so I would leave the bin in there for a couple more days.

Omg! I just recently got a female veiled chameleon and in all of the research I did before hand nothing said anything about egg laying, so I didn't even think of it! She has bio soil in the bottom of her enclosure. Is there anything I should do for her?
@NeptunetheChameleon3 жыл бұрын
Unless the bottom is at least 6" deep, I would add a laying bin to her enclosure. Good luck!

what about a T5 10.0 linear light??? love your videos!
@NeptunetheChameleon3 жыл бұрын
Depends what size of enclosure you have, and if you own a solarmeter. If you have a 48" tall or smaller enclosure then I would recommend a 5.0. 10.0s typically put out too much UVB for a chameleon and the only way to make sure your UVI levels are safe is with a solarmeter. I would suggest watching my video on UVB: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4O5m5qXgdiKpJo and checking out the chart in this link that shows the different UVI levels for different bulbs: chameleonacademy.com/chameleon-cage-set-up-replicating-the-sun/

Hi there! I have a male juvenile panther chameleon. I’ve had him for 3 weeks and he’s doing amazing! It’s my first time having a chameleon but I really think I’m doing a good job. The reason why I am contacting you is because Petco near me has a female panther chameleon that is over 1 year old. I’m almost positive that she is ready to lay eggs and they have her on sale for 50% off because no one wants her. I don’t think that I would know what to do it I got her during this time of her life, but I do know that she will die soon if she doesn’t get to lay her eggs. Would you be able to do anything about this to help me? I just feel so bad for her but I’d need help if I tried to help her. I really just don’t have the space. But I don’t want her to die. And my parents won’t let me get her knowing that she would need to see a vet ASAP.

Question, after I come back from work, my girl has soil around her mouth and some inside. I notice no holes or DENTS in the organic soil in my enclosure. Thoughts?
@NeptunetheChameleon3 жыл бұрын
She has probably dug her hole and has covered it back up (which is what she is supposed to do). Time to go hunting for eggs to make sure :)

@@NeptunetheChameleon not to mention, it's 2nd day that she has organic soil in her mouth, and it's by a huge plant with a big pot bin. Time to dig around and make a mess inside the cage, if she did lay eggs.
