It’s the 4th game that’s numbered. The others are sub games. It’s not like New Vegas is numbered. If I recall correctly the fallout series is a numbered game then a sub game and so on which is why f4 is the 8th game. It’s not poorly titled it’s done in a specific way.

Ugh. Dan is spot on when he says that this is a "piss-poor attempt at emulating a great writing style." Or, well, something like that. The problem is that they are going way too over-the top with their attempts to write GLaDOS. GLaDOS doesn't help the player. GLaDOS actively sabotages. GLaDOS wouldn't give you tips at all. If anything, she might allude to it through a completely different comment.

For the record, Dan is right for questioning how this games physics work, since it has no concept of accurate weight. He does however struggle intensively to adapt to this, which shouldn't have been to difficult. Beyond that, the level design is far to linear and refuses to play with its own introduced mechanics in intuitive ways. Actually bothers me how you can see the entire solution of these stages in less than a minute, and yes I do agree with Dan stating that when you see the solution there should be about 5 sec and you win. Soo seeing the strange speed of the forklifts and bridge assebly being slightly clunky is just bothersome.

GLaDOS tell you how to play the game, is the worst experience I have ever had. GLaDOS does not fucking tell you how to complete a level, GLaDOS leaves you in the level till you die... Also, just get Cave Jonson to do the tutorials, or Wheatly, if you need a tutorial... also, its just re-iterating jokes from the actual portal games

That's not nessicarily true. GLaDOS always gave you the information you needed to solve the puzzle, then left it up to you to actually figure out the solution. She told you how the portal gun works, how it carries momentum, how your leg braces worked, ect. She wanted you to actually finish tests so she could collect data. Then she'd murder you.

Portal VR isn't done by valve themselves, but by the same guys that made the Portal 2 Mod Mal's story. This time they decided to do it from the ground up though and used Unreal Engine for easier VR support. They did however get valve's blessing

I disagree with Dan on Portal in almost every way. I thought Portal 1 was good, not perfect; Portal 2 was better; I hated the VR portal thing; and I want to see more portal in the future.

I really wish Dan would've given this more of a chance instead of just saying that it's a terrible game and saying that the writing is a terrible attempt at the first two masterpieces. Of course the writing isn't going to be as good as before, the writing of the first two games didn't revolve around GLaDOS, they revolved around GLaDOS *and* Chell. In Portal 1 and 2, it was the player being tested, not the player making the tests. When the player was being tested, you could see GLaDOS' psychopathic nature because GLaDOS was controlling the test, GLaDOS got to make the death traps. But in this, it's the player making the tests, and the player's objective isn't to murder the cars, it's to get them where they need to go. The thing that made Portal 1 and 2's writing so good was that you could see GLaDOS interacting with you which was funny because of how psychopathic she acted, but since GLaDOS can't directly kill in this game, no psychopath. Granted: Valve could've brought in Wheatley, Cave Johnson, or even Caroline to make the writing more fitting, but GLaDOS is the figure-head of portal. Sure Cave-Johnson can make a nice joke or two, but GLaDOS is the only one who's committed to tests, so she's the only character that can keep their dialogue up. Eventually, Cave-Johnson or whoever would run out of things to say, and even before that they'd become completely unrelated to the tests and become boring to listen to. For GLaDOS, since she's directly involved with tests and the test-applicants, she's the only one who will always stay relevant throughout the game.

Valve didn't make this game, which explains why the writing isn't as good as Portal or Portal 2. I think they could have made it work despite the lack of the GLaDOS/Chell relationship if they DID make this game, but it's not the type of thing they'd make. It's not like it's bad, it's just... not innovative, which is Valve's goal, and why Source 2 and all the games that would come with it *COUGH* Half-Life 3 *COUGH!!* are taking so long. Sorry. Got a tickle in my throat there.
