It was inevitable He got to what about a 1000 rating level? Below that, you can gain hundreds of points with practically zero effort, and get the illusion of fast improvement But he was approaching a rating level where you’re just not going to keep ‘improving’ with ease It takes practically zero effort to go from 500-800 It takes a tiny bit of effort to go from 800-1000 It takes some effort to go from 1000-1200 It takes noticeable effort to go from 1200-1400 It takes A LOT of effort for most people to go from 1400-1600/1700 It takes TREMENDOUS effort to go from that, to about 2000 Etc etc Almost everyone who was a ‘serious’ player saw that his, frankly, bs ‘improvement’ wasn’t meaningful in any way, and he would quickly get stuck and then the stupid hype around him would just fade away
