I would personally drive to the coast, steal a boat, and live on the ocean. It doesn't appear that the clone would be able to deal with the open seas (given how easily they were drowned). You can also fish for your food and if you manage to snag a water purifier, you can change the salt water into normal water. If not, you could just set up some barrels for rain water. On top of this, the bugs show up on spores, but the higher winds on the open sea will keep you safer. To end my point, its easy to get away from other boats in your own and you can easily spot if anyone is getting near. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

The only comfort there is is that it doesn't get to tech people and military first. Guns, internet, and power are the only things that can keep humans alive from snatchers.

I think The Thing is a scarier concept, considering that it can blend in with FULL KNOWLEDGE of the victim's life and environment, with the added urge to assimilate and reproduce, and the ability to manipulate its body and biology in anyway it sees fit. The percentage of people that have plastic surgery that would be noticeable is very small. Also even if you did run into a person that lost their plastic surgery you wouldn't put the idea of an alien invasion together fast enough. Its not just about convincing yourself. Its about convincing a large scale military organization in a matter of hours. (You'd have to notice the plastic surgery and conclude as well as convince sceptics that the entire world was under invasion within a matter of only a handful of hours to have even the smallest of chances of winning the war). The entire situation is just simply an extinction level event. It happens too fast and its happening everywhere at once. The only survivors would be the government personal that serve as workers for the long term bunkers. Places like Norad or nuclear subs would be the bits of humanity. Their final message from the outside world would be orders to never make contact with an outside source ever again. Humanity would die when either Norad or a place very similar ran out of their last MRE.

Actually Nerd missed two important things with this video on how to beat the body snatchers in Assimilate. 1. When they clone you, any scars or damage you had such as lost limbs are ignored meaning it's only a straight genetic clone not a true copy. Anyone missing a finger something or who has noticeable scars might just be safe. 2. Cannibalism is in this case completely right out, when the mother was life draining the real mother, those tiny black particles were streaming down her arms into the victim. This means we have no idea what precisely the clones are made of and cannibalizing them may actually be worse than starving a bit longer until you find safe food or foraging int he wilderness. We also don't know if these body snatchers go after animals, if not, then hunting is the game. Clones are just target practice.

Based off my logic, the best way to survive this is to get to a remote location and live out your life there. Gather any surviving members of the human race and have them move to a secondary location before being transported to your location. A human community is definitely possible as well. You'd need to go off grid, somewhere safe and secluded. The clones aren't all that bright so, if getting there weren't a problem, I'd say finding an island is your best bet. find a map, then find an island as far as possible from the shore (But still reasonably close enough to not be ridiculously far.) And then when there you could just chill. Getting survivors there would be a major risk though. I am 99% positive being on an island makes you safe from any clones as well. I doubt they'd really comprehend how water travel works. Especially the crazy assimilation ones that would try to get to you by running through the water. which would just result in, ya know, drowning. When it comes to an actual community, assuming you had any form of service like the survivors have at the end of this movie, you could post your coordinates online. It seems highly probable that these aliens have 0 idea WTF the internet is and their ability to understand our technology seems EXTREMELY limited. I also highly doubt they'd go to the effort of tracking down a small community on a desolate island, because whatever their goal is, becoming replicas of us just seems like a stepping stone in that goal. And I doubt a few stragglers affect their plans much - if at all. The most dangerous thing would be if you had to go into town for supplies. Blending in and shit just doesn't feel possible and sure as shit isn't safe, so you'd want to take some crop seeds to grow your own fruits and vegetables, and any animals you could get to the island to breed for food would be good. Chickens would be nice but not likely you'd be able to get them. Fish are a good go to though, since they're abundant and in the waters. Albeit we don't know if they only assimilate humans. We can assume they do, since we never see any implication of a non-human being assimilated. This would lead me to think that they only assimilate creatures of higher intelligence, so openly fishing would be safe. Shelter probably wouldn't be too difficult. If you were able to get out of a populated area after finding out about what was going on, but before it was too late, you'd of been able to get tents, a grill, and other various supplies from the local walmart loaded up in your vehicle. You could've then taken all of that down to the docks, loaded up a boat, and then just set sail. Which in that case you'd be set for awhile. And make sure any newcomers to the community bring stuff as well. But yeah, in the end, if a situation like this ever happened, our race wouldn't survive except for pockets of remote civilizations and hastily built communities.

@@chancedavis6216 Child protective services (CPS) exists for a reason. What absolutely can happen is a child can request to be transferred to CPS for any reason at any time. In contrast what absolutely cannot happen is a child can't request to be given to the custody of someone of their choice. That process would take a long to happen (even if they were directly family). Another problem is that CPS can refuse to give the child back to the parents. For example if a child decided to pull a "prank" on their parents and go to CPS it can take quite a while before even normal and good parents will get their child back.

The medical staff would not find alien DNA in Mrs. Bissette's wound, since a) blood test doesn't test for everything, b) there's no medical rationale to do a DNA test, c) we don't draw blood from the wound, so unless the alien DNA spread from the wound, it wouldn't even be present in her serum. (And remember, running different blood tests mean more blood draws (minor patient harm) and more cost to both the hospital and patients. It would be actually unethical for the doctors to run completely unnecessary tests like being suggested here.) The world would still be able to discover the existence of aliens when they find the doppleganger trying to break into a hospital. Dopplegangers seem to try to eliminate their originals at night, which means that visitation hours would be over. So, in order for it to be a fully covert operation, they would need the hospital receptionist, all the nurses, PAs, and doctors on that floor to be already replaced. If you think about it, we only see the body snatchers when they already won. But how did the scheme work at all in the first place? How did nobody think to go to the emergency department when they were bitten by an unknown animal? How did none of the millions of people assimilated beat their clones, when a bunch of teenagers managed to do so? (especially confusing since guns and stabbing works fine against them). How did nobody manage to hear the attacks if they lived with family or in apartments and call the cops, record the attack, or help save the victim? Hell, these guys even suck at properly disposing of the bodies. Did no one come across a corpse, call the cops, only to have the same person be alive and well? Honestly, this invasion plan is frankly terrible. If not for the writers telling us that it worked their invasion would have been discovered quickly and defeated. Physicians get their degrees for a reason. They don't simply send for every lab in the world for no reason. You have to have some clinical rationale for it. No, what they do is they do a comprehensive history and physical examination, form differential diagnoses, and use the tests to rule out/rule in the diagnoses. Let's take for example troponin. It's a marker that essentially lets us know that heart injury has occurred (most likely MI). Do you think that any physician is going to run troponin on a patient who presents with fever, chills, and cough? No. Because it'd be fucking pointless. Anyone who understand literally anything about medicine will tell you that. If all of the initial differentials were ruled out, or some new symptom developed then the doctors would order additional tests. But to suggest that doctors should and would run DNA analysis of a random ass bug bite is so astoundingly stupid, it boggles the mind. B) "Make a DNA test as it is part of everything". What? I literally can't even understand your rambling. Are you saying that 1) we have database of the DNA sequence of every patient who visits, and 2) that we test for that with every patient? If their DNA matches our own, then consuming them would be the same as straight up cannibalism which has a high risk of developing a neurological disease called Kuru. Even if their DNA doesn't match ours and just mimics ours, it's possible that their flesh could be poisonous to us. I would only suggest testing it if you're already starving to death and have no other option.

The only confusing part from this is, aren’t military bases watched over 24/7 or smthn? How did they fight off the military groups around the world? And the clones seem to just have a bit of more strength than normal humans, but are overall equally mortal, that and they don’t seem too organized, only relying on numbers. A small well organized militia could very likely out power and outmaneuver them. Hell, even one person that decided to pick up a firearm with enough could probably take out a whole bunch of them before being overrun, that or just run over them with a car. The aliens have the element of surprise, that’s for sure, but I doubt a few dozen of them would be created before the get identified. It could also be the aliens know who to target, the first people infected in that town were people that held a position of political or social power (the sheriff and the pastor). So the bugs might target people in high positions of power before going after anyone else. But even then they cannot possibly capture all the political powers, at the same time and quietly enough for no one else to find out. Inevitably a clone would be killed, this would alert the world powers, then words would spread around and it would found this is happening everywhere else too and measurements to counteract this situation would ensue. Idk how the clones specifically are formed, I know they come from those pods, but where do those pods come from? My guess is once the bug bites a person, it runs away and becomes the clone (I haven’t seen the movie, so tell me if I’m wrong) then and once it hatches, it hunts for the original to replace them. The main problem is that this invasion relies on way way way too many variables to occur, if at any point in the beginning or middle phases of the invasion their cover is blown and groups of people large and armed enough are formed, the invasion is pretty much thwarted. They rely way too much on fooling us, but I doubt that realistically they would be able to fool enough people fast enough for the invasion to be successful. They would certainly replace a bunch of us, especially in smaller towns and he’ll they might be able to overrun entire cities. At most society as we know it Might be screwed. At the end I just don’t see how the invasion would last enough for it to succeed. Of course, if the spores last as long as the aliens need it to be, they might not need the first wave to survive, they just need to keep assaulting us until they overrun us completely. However that relies on humans not adapting and using clothing that prevents bites from a small rat like creature and don’t make shelters that are monitored 24/7 and that the inside of said shelter is completely isolated from the surface and only has one entrance that needs to be routinely checked and cleaned in the off chance spores get through. Humanity could 100% survive and eventually evolve from this scenario, most likely at some point going as far as overtaking the clones. Even more considering our numbers would grow and theirs would theoretically stay the same (considering we have no reason to believe they can multiply in any way that isn’t creating a clone of an individual person. Of course that’s also relying on the idea the clones don’t overtime adapt and become smarter and more human like to the point where they might be able to infiltrate our ranks. However, even then, if we were able to form a secure enough shelter that manages to stave off any horde of clones plus keep us safe from the spores, it would easy to monitor and check any person that tries to enter with a dna test (unless they are 100% identical to the original even down to the celular level) However we were never given a reason to believe this clones can adapt to that big of an extent (we do see them drive and they are smart enough to cut communications to the outside world in the case of this small town, but they are easily identifiable and as far as I know they don’t use any form of weaponry throughout the entire movie) so I’d say that realistically I would very likely individually die. However I’m pretty certain humanity as whole would with time survive and thrive (if it got to the point were society as we know it crumbled) However it wouldn’t be hard to create a save area. The check list to create a safe enough shelter doesn’t even need to include an underground stronghold (even though that would be the better options) The only things you would need for a safe shelter are the following. *The surrounding area has to be an open field with a large field of view, that way no horde of clones could sneak up on the shelter. *Have walls high enough and strong enough to prevent any individual clone from entering the shelter *have a food supply, this can be fixed by having a farm and maybe a certain amount of farm animals inside *have enough weaponry to stave off enough clones in case of an invasion, you don’t even need guns (if you have them use them though) you just need rudimentary weapons that can be used against invading forces, pots of extreme boiling water and fire would be enough to take out a whole bunch of them *if you have time, dig a moat around the shelter *funnily enough, any form of medieval defenses would be enough to fight off a horde as we see it in the movie Of course if the aliens get more advanced than we see them in the movies then we are fundamentally screwed. Since we do see them use some of the tools the person they replaced used, it might not be far fetched to assume they would how to use military equipment (if they managed to get their hand on any military equipment, they might be able to, but there’s a low chance they’d be able to overtake all the militaries of the world, especially not those that are currently out at sea) Another thing to note is that living in any areas with extreme temperature might be the safest places to live, considering they seem to die to the same things humans do, so a dessert or a frozen area could be enough to survive against the clones considering they chase after you naked in the middle of the night. So a lot of them would die before getting to you. TL;DR: this invasion relies on too much shit and the aliens are too weak, there’s a very likely chance that even if society crumbled, humans as a whole would survive and eventually thrive due to logical actions and logical situations.

Kaden Rouse if the ant bugs formed into something bigger and stronger then we could be pretty screwed. We don’t have a reason to believe they can or would, but we also don’t have a reason to believe they cannot. It’s definitely plausible that once they crumbled society (if they managed to do that) then they would use more extreme measures of taking out the remaining survivors without he need to replace them. If that were the case, then chances of humanity surviving look a heck of a lot slimming, however that depends on how big and stronger they get. If they get to the size of an elephant and are aggressive, then that would certainly pose a big problem with little manageability. If it’s lion sized, it would just be problematic, but manageable. The only way you could probably be 100% safe from this is if the bunker was really well hidden, secure, with no top part and have a routined check for any ant bugs to make sure they don’t form inside the very bunker There’s also the idea that maybe they can’t form into something bigger, maybe anything bigger than the rat size creature would crumble on its own weight. I don’t know how much that’s possible, but it’s still food for thought.
