Warhammer; discussed in both parts 1 and 2. I don't recall if it was Fantasy of 40K (Rogue Trader) mentioned in Part 1, but GW history shows that Fantasy was first published in 1983, and 40K Rogue Trader in 1987. With this scenario of Tales from the Loop taking place in 1986, the Warhammer Tournament would have been Fantasy. FYI.

The animated Hobbit movie came out in 1977, but home releases were in 1991. However, as Martin pointed out, it isn't unreasonable to assume it came out early in the Loop universe.

the Loop universe is the kind of timeline where a particularly wealthy person might actually have an HDTV in the 1980s (though not like, a thin one. think 1990s rear-projection TVs) I mean, Japan was actually experimenting with an analog HDTV system through the 1980s called Hi-Vision; even made a (super super hard to find now) HD version of Laserdisc
