The octopus tentacles are just stuck after printing. The joints have to be kind of forced to move the first time, and some are smoother after being worn in a bit.
@sddreamcrystal5 ай бұрын
The octopus may have had the joints fused in the printing process. This happens when there isn't enough tolerance between pieces and/or the layers of plastic get squished so much that the walls of the print connect

@Softsqueakyduck5 ай бұрын
So when you 3d print articulating toys, you often have to work each area gently until you get the movements that you want. Over time it become easier. On the opposite end, it could also be that the filament stuck together when it was being printed and in our house it's considered a failed print, which does happen, no matter if you have the best machine out there.
@cityhunter255 ай бұрын
Yes! You are right! It was a bit stuck on certain joints. I had probably forgot to set the k value for that rainbow filament before using it. 😇
@Jazzatic20115 ай бұрын
Are there ways to reuse the filiment if you have a failed print? Just very curious
@cityhunter255 ай бұрын
@@Jazzatic2011 so some places take wasted filaments and recycle them to be new filament. I seen some ppl buy expensive machines that grind failed prints and another machine that melts the crushed plastics and stretches them back to filament.e personally I just bring my failed prints to the recycling center that takes in 3d printed plastics.
@orchdork7755 ай бұрын
@cityhunter25 Are you her brother? I just made a comment on this video suggesting that you experiment with sound design to make these fidget toys even more satisfying. I was thinking that maybe different types of filaments sound different. You could also look to the custom keyboard community to get inspiration, since they add all sorts of materials inside a keyboard to alter the sound, like foam, silicone, packing tape, plastic sheets, kinetic sand, play dough, and more. I just think there's a lot of fun to be had experimenting with sound when it comes to 3d printed fidget toys.
@kexthefuzzy42025 ай бұрын

Yes, I actually like it too. I noticed that with fidget toys it's hard to make a good tier list, because people have so different preferences. One thing can be extremely satisfying for one person, but annoying to the other. For example popit toys are like one of the most popular ones, but they do nothing for me. But I know many people find them very satisfying.
@BcOriginal4 ай бұрын
The octopus is actually a type of puzzle toy called a snake which you can make into different shapes. Wacky tracks are more of a clicky plastic chain which can be linked with as many as you want so you can make a really long necklace of them or make them really short but you can’t make them into a shape. 😊

These are all really nice looking, but I think your brother could do a lot to improve how they sound. Maybe he could test out how different types of filaments sound and how different combinations of filaments sound. He could also experiment with adding foam, tape, silicone, plastic sheets, and other materials inside the fidget toy to get more satisfying clicks. I'd recommend looking into the custom keyboard hobby to get inspiration, as they add all sorts of stuff to keyboards to get the sound that they want (like kinetic sand or play dough or packing tape). There is just so much you can do to a keyboard to customize how it sounds, so why should a fidget toy be any different? There are a lot of similarities, so I'd really recommend your brother look into that to get some ideas. Pretty much anything is better than hollow plastic, though 😂

Forgive me but I must also nerd out a bit regarding 3D printers. So I've been considering getting a K1 Max, but Creality is in the process of releasing the K2 so I'm waiting for a bit to see what the reviews say about it to know if I'm going with that or with a Bambu Labs one. I have an Ender 3 V2 currently and it's been doing great, but I really think I could benefit from the enclosure considering how the bed adhesion is inconsistent for me. I know it's probably the vents for the AC in the room kicking on causing issues but still.
