If you want these items at the right prices and don’t want to go to an Asian grocery store you should get the app yamibuy. The drink and the Sakura Oreos are the proper prices though the mini candies aren’t available, only in big packages but proper pricing. Shipping is only $5.00 at most, AND they are super fast. My mouth literally dropped open when I saw the "Animal Land Chocolate." That's 100% false advertising. Even the description is purposefully vague so they can defend themselves later. There's no excuse at all... Edit: Also, NEVER EVER CLOSE A PAYPAL CLAIM. You can't open it again and are completely defenseless afterwards. I know some people close their claims to be nice to the seller, but you almost always get screwed in the end. It feels bad to be the "bad" guy, but if you never plan to do business with the seller ever again, it's really not a big deal. I'm so sorry Jackie!

I live in England,, UK. Where we have many Asian food stores that sell sweets, drinks, frozen food, jarred foods, cupboard foods and so on. They are also usually pretty good price wise. We get japanese, Korean, philiphine, Thai, Chinese and more. Would love to go to japan and other Asian countries once covid is under wraps and we can travel again 😍❤️🙏 xx

Thanks for sharing the downlow on the crate. I will never get a subscription on snacks because I don’t want to be committed to consuming snacks every month. I’ve bought tons of stuff from Japan shipped and generally the items include tax and the shipping is generally going to X2 the cost of the items(books,toys,collectibles and not snacks) bought from Japan. So I reckon a lot of the pricing is due to shipment which is a silly price model whoever came up with the idea of snack subscription. Also to those saying they can get stuff from their favorite Asian mart, generally the prices of the snacks have been upcharged already compared to what you could get from Asia on the ground.

it would make sense to spend a little bit more than what you'd exactly receive for the fact of it being another country so yeah obvi they want a bit more money back then what we get but the fact its 35 and shipping? it could have at least been worth 35 US dollars or in your country, Canadian dollars. I could probably even go to a walmart here find some cool japanese candy for cheaper. I in fact just bought 8 items for about 17-18 dollars the other day, but it was also full sized items... they could have done better.

Totally with you on that. I mean, I get that import fees would make the products more expensive than when you directly buy them from Japan. But it still should at the very least cover the price of the box. Here, even if you up the prices a bit, it doesn't even come close to that. I thought Japan Crate was a good box, but after that video I'm pretty disgusted.
@rcuriel842 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this in informative review and breakdown of the value. I have been planning on visiting japan and wanted to bring a little bit of the country to my home before my trip. I seen this advertised and was so excited to give the premium box a try because I also subscribed to snack crate and absolutely loved my japan box. I have to say I'm so glad I stumbled upon your video because it helped me not make a terrible decision that would have left me utterly disappointed. So thank you very much, I'll be passing on this terrible subscription service.

It actually makes me so mad that they sell all this cheap candy for so much money. Like, I couldnt afford to buy a box like this but if I imagine that I have the money to buy a bix like this for a month and then get this? I would be so sad and mad to have spend money on that. Like, not everyone can afford this boxes and have to save money to get them. And then they get this?
@ilovedollaramapham4 жыл бұрын
Just keep in mind people buy this boxes because they want to try some new Candy out there and some of the band a advertised in the box you can't find it in your area or it could be any reason but the problem they used to have good value in their boxes but not anymore I know for a fact I used to buy from them but not anymore I thought I was getting a good deal then I find out most of the stuff they sell in this box I can get it at my local Asian stores it's 2020 now so many companies are now importing Japanese good in Canada and I don't need to pay for a subscription box if I can go to my local supermarket find the same atoms in the bag

Curious to know if the expired products is due to the pandemic, I know shipping delays have been horrendous but yet you would think the company would think ahead and choose things with longer shelf life.

The product was practically expired when they put it IN the box, actually. The long mailing time didn't help, but the fact remains that they really did put expired product in the crate to begin with. I doubt it's malicious, but definitely negligent.

Makes me wonder if the "company" is one guy in his parent's basement buying things at those dollar stores and candy shops and throwing them into boxes. Then charging for the "novelty experience" and hoping North Americans wouldn't know the difference! Great way to make his rent money for mom and dad so he can keep gaming in solitude.... Very sketchy. Jackie, you've been a salted!! 🧂🧂 🤬 Of course this visualization is based on a whole lot of North American stereotypes. 🤣😂

That's possible. Its also possible they're counting on the fact that many don't have easy access to the products. It makes me wonder if there are laws/restrictions that prevent the stores in Japan from just selling world wide online.

I’ve had my suspicions about Japan Crate. I ordered their Umai Crate in March, and just like you got charged for several months with receiving any boxes. Finally got my May box in June. Never got an April box. They kept telling me to wait until the end of the next month and I should get it or contact them again. I finally just got a refund for it, which I was happy I could just get my money back but was so disappointed because I really just wanted to try some of their ramen. But customer service was always nice and replied to me pretty quickly even if they weren’t helpful. I’m kind of scared to know what my box was worth 😳 I did enjoy all of the noodles I got and the chili paste that I put in EVERYTHING though.

Japan crate was decent when I first started getting the crates a few years ago but they've honestly been steadily going downhill for a while now and covid hasn't helped matters. I'm thinking of trying Bokksu tbh, I looked into them & they're the same price as a premium Japan crate with the fast shipping (like 44 something usd) but with free shipping & looking through their past boxes they seem to be pretty good quality so unless anyone has had some positively horrendous experience with Bokksu they'd like to share, I think I'll give them a shot come my next payday
@myspacegf56234 жыл бұрын
bokksu is about $5 more than japan crate but they quality of the snacks is noticeably better. they do give repeat items some months which is part of the reason i switched to japan crate but the shipping experience has been positive and i never felt like i was getting scammed

Everything you said here is why I stopped getting their boxes. Unfortunately it took me almost a year to stop because I was just so desperately wanting to try a variety of new Japanese snacks. But when I would only even enjoy half of them, I finally just stopped. I will say one thing, ordering soft drinks from Japan is EXPENSIVE (at least to here in the US) because of the shipping cost so there is a bit more value there but other than that, your review is spot on.

I very nearly did a Japan Crate back when COVID really started to screw over the world, so about the same time you ordered yours. I'm glad I didn't. Many of those items I find in my local Asian supermarket and even paying the sometimes ridiculous costs for imported specialty candy, it's still cheaper with better quantities to buy it in the market. I'm particularly insulted by the sakura Pocky. A limited edition box with four of those individual packages is like $4 CAD and that is still considered highway robbery.
