@nerdecrafter When are we gonna see some crafting content, Jackie? This is slowly becoming a clickbaity kids channel and I must admit, it's quite a fall from grace from your former crafting content which is a shame as that's why I subscribed in the first place. As someone who's struggled with skin picking my whole life, I love the idea of these. I wish, though, instead of filling a plastic display, they'd provided an empty mystery plush to fill with the fuzz and zip up its back. Then you'd get a whole second toy out of this instead of a wonky display to lean against something and stare at. Plus - it'd be an added element of mystery and collectibility! And more incentive for any littles playing with this to not leave a fluff mess in their wake!

I was skeptical at first but then i realized that these could be really good for ppl with Trichotillomania or Dermatillomania (hair pulling and skin picking respectively). It's a really interesting concept for conditions that aren't talked about alot, much less given healthier options for.
@skyeb875 Жыл бұрын
I think these are cool for that reason but they also have these "picky" pumice stones which are similar! There's colored rubber in the holes and you pick it out with a little metal tool. It's cheaper and you can refill the rubber (it's latex so not good if you're allergic)

Yes, yes, yes!! Gosh, I saw these in my local store today without realizing what they were and now I really want one for when my dermatillomania is acting up. I could've used it the other day when I ended up picking all the scabbing off my new tattoo (which likely pulled SO much of the color out of it 😭 ).

@@Gamyeon So there's this stuff out now called saniderm that's really incredible for folks like us!! I had it for my previous tattoo but forgot to buy some for this one until it was too late. But it's a clear adhesive sheet. You can keep the first one on for up to a day before needing to take it off to clean the tattoo. But then as long as there isn't like massive pockets of plasma, you can keep the next sheet on for up to a week. As a cat breeder, I want to warn you for the tool you use for your cat. It rips out the fur below and can cause many problems for your cat's fur. Many breeders suggest against it. It would be better to use a normal brush/comb or slicker brush. Just a tip tho!

I didn’t know this. I’ve been using one when my cat blows his undercoat when seasons change. I also brush him every other day with a slicker brush, but it just doesn’t seem to get out the shedding undercoat very well. But I’ll look in to this more and might relegate the “Furminator” brush to cleaning the cat tree. (Btw, if you have a carpeted cat tree, those brushes are really good at getting the fur and dirt/dust off of them. Even the stuff that a vacuum can’t get.)

@@Annie_Annie__ They're ok for a quick session to get rid of the seasonal shedding during summer (the winter coat that is falling out), but shouldn't be used regularly or any other time and not for shorthaired cats! It's all around better to use other combs and brushes I think, but it can be handy for getting rid of that extra shed when summer hits.
@Annie_Annie__ Жыл бұрын
@@testerwulf3357 My cat is short-haired, but he also has a fairly dense undercoat. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it until him. Makes me wonder if one of his parents was long-haired and he got their undercoat, but the other parent’s short hair? My husband is allergic to him and is fine as long as the cat doesn’t get in his face, but in spring when he’s blowing his coat, the fur gets everywhere and makes my poor husband miserable. So I have to do something to control the hair tornadoes, lol. I don’t even know why he builds up a winter coat. He’s a strictly indoor cat and the house stays 72°F year round. And even if he was outside, we live in an area that doesn’t really get winter weather. Temps in the 80°s (26°-32°C) for extended periods in “winter” are common here, and it rarely gets below freezing. You’d think he’d keep a constant summer coat, but somehow it does change with the seasons.

(Disclaimer: I have no reason to believe Jackie is misusing her brushes/combs, I just wanted to post a general warning for everyone for the specific grooming tool she showed) Heads up from a pet groomer: that brush/comb should only be used in small sessions to get rid of seasonal shedding that you could theoretically pull out by hand. Those kind of combs have small razors that grab the undercoat, which is why it works so well on the toy. If you’re using it regularly on your cat (or dog), especially if it’s a short hair, there’s a significant risk for brush burn since you’re basically scraping their coat & skin with a dull razor.

When I first heard about them, I thought they'd be great for my Trichotillomania (hair pulling )because it's literally just that. I really enjoy doing it, but it's not as convenient as I was hoping. So it's not something I can take with me wherever, or like do it while holding my guinea pigs. The outer fluff also gets everywhere, so be mindful of that! It was also a bit too addicting when I started doing it and I couldn't stop until it got way later in the evening than anticipated 😅. So from my personal experience, these are absolutely worth it and I will probably buy every single one of them! I highly recommend them if you have the same issue as me because pulling their hair out is waaayyyy better than pulling your own hair out😂! There are so many people who can't use those things & stuffed animals are some of the most inclusive toys in the around. I don't like that they took something as comforting & beloved as a stuffed toy & turned it into an overly expensive messy object of frustration. Stuffed animals are so universally beloved, affordable & inclusive that my hospital gave each child one when they were admitted to the hospital. I also know that 1st responders also give them to children experiencing trauma. This is why those things rub me the wrong way.
