The first one is a kimekomi kit! Very traditional Japanese doll craft. The bases are usually hand carved wood then covered with chirimen (kimono fabric).

As someone who sews, and saw the translation of the first step, there's little v shapes at the corners of the fabric that you're supposed to cut out. It helps the fabric fit into the corners without as much force or wrinkling. In sewing we call that clipping your corners and it's especially useful to help rounded edges lay much flatter and gives you sharper inner corners. I noticed that there were two eye shapes, one round and one oblong, and you used one of each. 😅 It was probably difficult to see through the camera screen. It's a very neat kit though! To get the fabric tucked in in the right spot it helps to wedge a bit down in the center of each edge. It's kind of the same principle as half tightening all of the screws when you're assembling or reassembling things like electronics, assembling furniture and homegoods, or building something made of wood or plastic.

The two different eyes immediately caught my attention and I couldn't focus on anything else. I forgive Jackie for not noticing but HOW COULD YOU NOT NOTICE. Honestly surprised there aren't more comments about it bc I immediately went to look at the comments and for a moment thought I was crazy because no one else was commenting on it, so thank you for reassuring me it wasn't just me.

As someone who also sews, I feel like using a sewing machine would have been easier 😅 And would have resulted to an actual plushie. Well, at least from this kit you get the patterns for free 😄😄

I actually really like the first set because if you do want to make a soft, squishable plushie, you can do that! Instead of pushing the fabric pieces into the plastic base, all you have to do is sew the pieces together along the slightly engrossed lines, turn it inside out, then stuff it with whatever plushie filling you like (at that size, i imagine beads would feel fantastic). Very versatile kit!

I used to go to the kids art classes, and one of my favourite techniques ever that we did was something similar. We used a foam core and we cut some design into it(the contours), but not all the way. And then we used colorful scraps of fabric to squeeze it in. So we got pictures in kind of stained glass style(not transparent, just the art style). It was sooooo cool.

I feel like the second kit especially would be really helpful in the classroom for little ones struggling with recognizing their numbers! I’ve used connect-the-dots pages to strengthen recognition but I can see kids getting really excited by those fluffy little monsters!

In the future, jsut so you know, the little V's on the cloth indicate you are supposed to cut them there, it would have made it a lot easier to poke in and helped it lay flatter :)

The first is so cute, though as someone who LOVES sewing I may only get it to actually sew it together as a proper plushie and use the base as a reference piece. XD Only because it seems like a great tool for reference, a cute lil base with even pieces to go together and how they all work together!

Those are both really cute and fun looking kits! I love how the first one gives you all the patterns to make your own creations and that it is reusable. The second one doesn't have as much creativity involved as the first one, but it is a bit easier to make and gives you accessories to play with or display your new friends. Very cool! I really like both tbh. The first one for when you want an easy mess free creative outlet that takes a little while, the second for a more relaxing straight forward thing to do when bored!

* Your first project * In America, we do have pictures you can make out of pieces of cloth, by tucking them into the foam board. I have actually done 2 of them. I got them near where I live in Ohio. Unfortunately, they did not give you the patterns, but if you wanted to switch it up you could actually lay out their pieces of cloth on top of your cloth and cut. I did really enjoy it!😊

the first kit reminds me of how we used to do some xmas deco with styrofoam balls. Its pretty much the same thing and once you got the hang of it, they could come out really nicely but it CAN be tricky to get the fabric nicely set.

I used to have a no sew fashion model when i was younger. You would cut the patterns out of fabric and then tuck them into the slots like the 1st toys

The only thing I didn't care for is that you pretty much just making the figure it shows you in the 2nd kit. With the first kit you can mix and match colors or cut your own even. Plus you can remove the colors and place them again. That gives me a much higher satisfaction for the first kit! Also, I feel like if someone wanted to "learn to sew" the first kit is a great guide. All those little felt pieces have to fit together like a puzzle because IF you were actually going to sew a plushie, that is how you would have to put the pieces together, leave room for sewing allowance, and then flip pieces and stuff them. So yeah, I really liked the first kit!

The first kit reminded me of patchwork, the type you can do with polystyrene balls. I've done some Christmas decorations with that technique, and also some eggs for Easter. About the second kit, here in Italy we have a similar kit called "Pom Pom Wow", but I don't think that they did a "plush-type" kid like this one (they were more like pom-poms to decorate various things)

The bat bunny is cute, but it seems a bit fiddly. I was looking at the shape and seeing a turtle!! 🐢 The second kit made a sensory type critter! 🤗 Fidgeting with the yarn would be satisfying to some. The fact they gave it a play mat might appeal to littles to use the accessories and play with the critter. I think there is more value in the second set.
