Since you got confused about the Violence Fiend, the case is that usually, Fiends are weaker than the Devils they were. For example, Power as the Blood Devil would be stronger than how she is as the Blood Fiend. However, the Violence Fiend was still a lot stronger than he was supposed to be as a Fiend, so as a countermeasure, he has to wear a mask with poison gas at all times to make it weaker.

I think the mistranslated line fits with the Future's personality BUT⚠️no explicit spoiler but ignoring this is fine⚠️ the issue with this is that instead of the ominous feel, it's giving a suggestion that Aki's death is going to be epic or cool which I already saw some people interpret this as. also the specific phrasing just doesn't work or at least loses some impact hence why manga readers are being SUPER critical about this error. if it was a passable change, there wouldn't be this big of an uproar

@@AlessaParker yeah like wtf, was it a purposeful misdirect by the translators? To make they audience think it’ll rule? I think with better editing, the new line could of had the same meaning. Slower pacing, more emphasis. I also think the “worst way” version could also fit the Future Devils personality, it just depends on how he says it. He could say it half chuckling like, “Ha ha, yeah man you’re going to die in the worst possible. You don’t even know the half of it!” Which is still intimidating in that the Devil is getting a source of casual amusement from something horrific.

12:34 Actually if you watch that episode again Sawatari ordered the Snake Devil to "swallow" and in this episode she ordered it to "spit it out", so Snake only swallowed Ghost. "Spit it out" gives her control over the devils Snake swallows by saying their names and the command, but she needs to sacrifice a nail and some of her internal stuff in exchange.

They translated it that way because they thought it would fit the personality, I guess saying you will die in the worst way possible is a lot more blunt, but the way they said your death will rule makes it seem as if the devil is mocking a human, and kind of shows how devil's view humans in the very negative light.

The words and meaning is not even the same, so no this was a mistake and not some edgy sumbolic take on the dialogue. Also SPOILERS: This dialogue will get a call back later, this phrasing will make no sense nor fit in with whatever is happening at that time. So No, this was a fuck up.

The words used Saiyaku and Saikou kinda sound similar, but their meanings are on the opposite poles. I am 100% sure they misheard and mistranslated it. Also this wouldn't be the first time cruchyroll screwed up like this.

The Zombie that were in the basement was turned to zombies way back in episode 1. The Yakuza just kept them there to use anytime they want. If you remember, after the zombie Devil died, the zombies are still alive in the warehouse and Denji had to slaughter them.

I have a theory that the teacher guy is one of the people that has a pact with the Future Devil. Specifically the one that gave up his eyes along with his sense of taste and smell. My reasoning is that his eyes are always blank and never looking at anyone directly. Also as seen by Power and Denji's "surprise" attack he was able to dodge an attack he could not see coming from inches away much like the foresight Aki seems to have now. I take it as the Future Devil didn't literally take his eyes just his sight although they could be fake glass eyes. Maybe its just of a man who has seen way too much shit for one lifetime but I think it still a possibility.

* Not a spoiler; I’m an anime only guy; these are just my observations and theories: We don’t know if she really has a contract with any devils though… we never got to see a manifestation of a devil. In the Shrine scene, because everyone else was blindfolded, you’d expect to see whatever Devil she had a contract with would show itself, but we saw nothing. We saw nothing in the shinkansen (bullet train), and in the Yakuza house, we saw no Devil show itself. In addition, in the conversation she had with Kishibe, he seems to be reminding her that he’s allowing Makima to go (and live) as long as she’s serving Mankind’s best interests. The specific wording he used (ningen-sama 人間様) made it sound like she was not a part of humankind. With her weird eyes and powerful abilities, she may be a Devil herself. Or maybe she’s an Angel, if those things exist in this world (as opposed to the Angel-Devil that we saw this episode).

I think it’s just human psychology that if someone, even a Devil, offers you something for free, you would feel more suspicious. It would be easier to swallow a deal if you had to pay. In another anime called Overlord, the protagonist saves a village, and though he really wanted nothing in return, he charges them some money to lower suspicion.
