The women's bathrooms are definitely the worst. When I worked retail, there was ALWAYS a mess to clean up in the ladies' room. When we worked in office, my wife would tell me the horrors that she would walk into in the ladies' room. The puns are puntastic. Pretty sure I have that joke book, and my wife hates it. The scene where Ellie shoots the kids is so well done, just wow. Also, she risked hitting Joel with the angle she shot at. "We'll deal with it later..." trope...always bites you in the ass

But was it a hipster thing back then? A reason to feel you're better than others because you picked up a caramel milk steamer like you're middle-management at a big-wig Manhattan firm? Honest question, I think that was opop's point. Maybe Starbucks was always hipster crap, until hipster coffee shops stole their hipster thunder, perhaps. I mean it's not like they invented coffee. The point is the presumption of being more sophisticated than everybody else, that's not something people associated with coffee shops, until perhaps Starbucks and later hipster joints, or maybe beatnik-wannabe coffee shops in the early 90's. I dunno.

2:53 Fun fact, that's actually not true. In reality we don't actually know why siphons work. It was thought for a long time that it was atmospheric pressure like you mentioned, until scientists found that siphons still work in a vacuum. Current prevalent theory iirc is that it has to do with gravity, and the liquid being "pulled" through the siphon acts like a chain with the leading bit of water pulling the bit behind it and so on and so forth

I've heard from toilet cleaners that public women's restrooms are way worse, because they tend to sort of "stand" on the toilet and then have the tendency to piss and shit all over it and the floor or even the walls because of it. And Joel was obviously checking the mirror for… you guessed it… people. A working car loaded with cargo is big fat target. Humanizing the hunters is definitely not quite new though, as they've done this in Part 2 already, as it was quite important to the story as well. Ellie paralyzing the guy and then having to listen him beg and scream for his mom was rough though.

I am NOT a gamer but I own a PS4 for just these 2 TLOU games, and though I have watched a lot of game play with my daughter and her friends growing up and also here on KZbin, this is the only game I know of that was created in such a way that you can tell Naughty Dog intended the player to feel remorse for killing many of the 'bad guys'. Many of the walkthroughs I prefer watching really don't like killing those they don't have to, especially the dogs. Most other games don't make you feel anything when you go on a killing spree. Kudos to Neil Druckmann and the others at Naughty Dog for that! SPOILER ALERT!!! DON'T READ BEYOND THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW THE WHOLE STORY FROM THE GAMES! Another thing they changed from the game is when Ellie tells Dina who was her first kill, it was the hunter that was about to kill Joel, but in this version she says that wasn't her first. The sad part is that I think we're going to find out her first kill was Riley after she finally turned. I could be wrong, but she was only bitten 3 weeks before she met Joel and Tess so to fit in this time frame that doesn't leave many people that she could have shot. Really heartbreaking if you think about it. This part is not so much a spoiler but in the game version Ellie was reading a comic book in the back seat when she complained about the comic book she was reading was a 'To be continued' leaving it at a 'clif-hanger'. So what did the people at Naughty Dog and HBO do to us? Leave this episode off at a 'CLIF-HANGER!!!'

"What, you guys are married? I thought you were her gay best friend." 1. Humorous you actually quoted that. 2. I think it's on absolutely every sane person's relationship goals list, to find that person you can truly be blatantly yourself with. Starbucks was founded in 1971 (before i was born, but i was a baby of the 70s) made a large expansion nationwide in the 1990s and was pretty much a USA/Canada staple before 1997. As to navigating... they are using an atlas. It has at best 2 11x17 inch pages to represent each state. All the minor highways and definitely the county roads are not going to be easy to reference. Sure you can jump on state highway 94 40 miles from the city, but then you dont kniw where youre going and guessing which exits or roads will connect you back to the highway shown on the atlas. That coukd end up adding 300 miles to your trip, guessing. And then you're backtracking a lot, you don't have a source of fuel aside from other cars that *might* have gas. And you'll find a lot more cars on the majir highways than on the smaller roads. How'd you like to take a guess and then have a 20 mile hike back to your last known location? Im from the llains states (Missouri and Kansas are fairly close to where i live.) I can tell youbfrom firsthand experience, your vehicle shuts down in some places, theres not a house or a gas station within an hours walk in the real modern world. Think about a 3 day hike to find anything useful, and being without your vehicle after.

1:36 100% calling bullshit here (maybe it's exclusive to the stadiums though) as I've worked in enough retail locations to know that the women's restroom was also the worst one to clear. The amount of hair, tampons, pads, and straight up trash just strewn about everywhere with blood just left sitting on the toilet seats is just ridiculous. I'm not even going to mention the people that shit, somehow, on the wall because that's not mutually exclusive to men or women -- both do that inane shit for some reason. The most "cleaning" I've had to do that's exclusive to the men's room has been product trash because dudes steal more (or at least women take the evidence with them) and "graffiti" aka random ass middle school poems on the stalls. ("Here I sit broken hearted, tried to shit but only farted. The other day I took a chance, tried to fart and shit my pants.") Hands down women are the worst to clean after.
