Not just a different time period, a different universe. This starts in an alternate universe, but will, according to rumors, bring them into the MCU proper as the multiverse crashes into itself as Secret Wars begins. (This is also why we won't be seeing Norin as the Surfer, rather his wife, Shala Bal.) And Galactus is not a Celestial, though he is a being of comparable power. He was once a mortal being named Galan.

I think The Thing looks great. He looks exactly like the old Jack Kirby art. I thought Michael Chiklis' suit in the Tim Story F4 films looked as good as it could look at the time, but going back and revisiting those movies, it definitely looks like a rubber suit, and looks very restrictive (apparently it was too; they had to install a fan in the butt of the suit just to keep the actor from passing out because it would get so hot). As much as I would love to see a fully-made prosthetic suit, I just don't think it'd be practical, especially to get the little details like how his mouth moves and stuff like his eyebrows conveying emotion the way they do. Motion-Capture is probably the best way to go, and it looks really solid, so far. I'm sure it'll be touched up more before release too.

Galactus is the janitor of the universe. He plays a essential role in the balance of existence. Without Galactus consuming planets the universe would become overrun or some shit. Its all actually really neat. Like a Galactus will always exist. Even when a universe is destroyed one of the few things created in a new one will be a Galactus. Correct me if Im wrong but dont the Celestials seed and Galactus consumes?

Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, is one of Marvel’s most powerful cosmic beings. Once a mortal named Galan from the previous universe, he was reborn during the Big Bang as a force of nature, needing to consume planets to survive. Wielding the Power Cosmic, he can manipulate matter, energy, and even reality itself. Though neither good nor evil, his existence is crucial to the universe’s balance. Over time, he has battled heroes like the Fantastic Four and cosmic entities like the Celestials, often forced to leave worlds alone due to the Ultimate Nullifier, one of the few weapons he truly fears. To find suitable worlds, Galactus appoints Heralds like Silver Surfer, Terrax, and Nova, granting them cosmic power. He has died and returned multiple times, once even becoming the Lifebringer, creating rather than destroying. Despite his destructive nature, he isn’t just a villain-he’s a fundamental part of the cosmic order. With the Fantastic Four joining the MCU, it’s only a matter of time before Galactus makes his big-screen debut as a major cosmic threat!

Peter Quill's father, Ego might be what 'Roo was thinking about when it comes to planet eaters. Ego was not necessarily eating plants, but he was a Celestial and a living planet spreading his seeds across worlds so that he could terraform them into extensions of himself. In essence consuming these worlds. Now you're not wrong, Dormammu did want the earth, but he wanted to merge the earth with the Dark Dimension. Galactus does consume the life energy of worlds.

We did this already with Thanos and Darkseid. Only read Fantastic 4 as a child if nothing else was available. Until my twenties I mainly followed DC heroes, namely Batman, but also Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Teen Titans. In my twenties I read a Spiderman and dove head-long into the Marvel stable, including Spiderman, X-Men, Doctor Strange, Iron Man. I was not Team Cap until Marvel and Chris Evans brought him to the big screen and now he's my guy. I had heard the name of Galactus, but not sure if I ever read any works with him in it. This preview looks promising, although the F4 strike me as being better suited for juvenile audiences. I am long past the PG-13 rated films of any genre as they seem to stroll right up to the point of getting interesting, and steer away again to safer waters. But I may watch this flick as I very much like Pedro Pascal.

The assessment here of what’s going wrong in the MCU seems off to me. Marvel has taken bigger swings and more risks. The larger issue is set up and pay off. Why introduce Kate Bishop, Moon Knight etc if you don’t intend to use them?! Our big team movies don’t have to be Avengers but crossovers do need to happen, ideally using the characters we actually like! Why isn’t Yelena the Black Widow in this new Captain America movie? Why isn’t Kate Bishop in Thunderbolts?! What’s the glue that holds all these people together that makes the Universe more than the sum of its parts

The FF premiered a few months after I was born in '61. The Jetsons and the '64-'65 NY Worlds Fair are among my earliest childhood memories, and the original Kirby/Lee FF comics were my core Marvel geekdom focus (in the 70s reprint run of Marvel's Greatest Comics). So, fuck yeah, they got my memo!!!! (Though I have to admit I was thrown by Ben Grimm's voice-it had been hoarse and gravelly in every version of the FF I'd ever seen).

If they have Galactus, they have to have Silver Surfer...who is controversial at the moment, as to being Shalla Bal instead of Norrin Rad. The retro-future look worked for The Incredibles, so maybe it will work for the Fantastic Four. I still think Ioan Gruffudd makes a more comics-accurate Reed Richards, particularly if they're going to give it a retro feel anyway. I don't think the look of the Thing is a problem at all. That's Jack Kirby. Maybe they can shape up the CGI, but the appearance is correct. What I don't care for is the voice, which should go along with the hardness of the Thing's appearance. Ebon Moss-Bachrach's voice won't work saying "It's cloberin' time!"

I see you got there on your own, Nerdy, but yeah, to make Ben Grimm a practical suit - it would be really challenging to not make it look cheesy, and even then you would most likely wind up doing CGI replacement on his head to get more realistic facial expressions. For my part, nothing about Ben took me out of it at all - as Clarus said, he fits the rest of the world they've built, and he is far more accurate to the comics than any of the other films managed. I have been indifferent to this film as the FF is not my favorite comic, but this teaser has me interested now.

Pedro might make me actually not fucking hate Reed. Might. Redgardless, I will still love Pedro, and this looks like easily the best adaptation of the FF ever, which is a sadly low bar but still, looks awesome. Galactus has nothing to do with the Eternals or the Celestials, except that Celestials and Galactus are both Cosmic Beings, but so is Death, Eternity, the Living Tribunal, the Phoenix Force, the Watchers, and abuncha other weirdos that fill similar roles to DC's Endless and some of their fallen angels characters (Spectre and Eclipso are the ones I remember). Rather broad group of largely unrelated things, aside from being cosmic. Vanessa Kirby was Josephine in Napoleon is all I got.

The Corman film is legitimately the best fantastic four movie. It feels more like the fantastic four and is a lot more fun. But that's mostly just because the others have all been bad. But I have hopes for this one.
