@shuntstick - the only reason you get some dnb at 80 bpm is because bpm reading programs fuck up at the extremes (very fast and very slow) you actually have to double it and get 160.

half time being halfting the time of the tempo by structuring. 2-step = kick snare kick snare and half time = kick.....snare. so half step is like having 2 step beat at half the tempo.. What I was trying to say is that just because there is something in that bpm range doesnt mean its one genre, thats why I used the example of half step.. where dnb in half step is a genre of its own (drumstep), New age Dubstep being half time where grime is 2 step in about the same bpm. Hope that was clear.

Well, it's drum and bass, drumstep is a bit slower (around 160 bpm, dnb goes up to 180 maybe more). Listen to Machete VIP by DJ Hazard to feel the difference - you will hear some drumstep just after the drop and after this - dnb.
