Just to let you know this got served up in my feed, maybe because Linus commented, but either way I hope your video and channel gets a surge of new viewers. I always enjoy third party video collabs with LTT and other tech KZbinrs.

Great video, this is something I was hoping LTT would put out at some point but having you do a video on their set up is just as good.

I'm surprised that LTT does so much product development in-house. I had thought that they were working with external companies that specialize in prototyping.
@tynanstack8251
@tynanstack8251 13 күн бұрын
Generally speaking iterating using in house 3D printing is wwaayy faster than working with an external prototyping house, since we can iterate like 20+ times/day depending on the size of the part with printers whereas at an external house it would be days to weeks per cycle. It also helps us understand manufacturing processes and improves our design processes! Plus lets us do fun one off projects with the tools!

They do a lot of stuff in-house in general tbh, as Linus and some of the others have talked about a few times. That's why they can have such a large number of staff, but inidividual projects and tasks can still seem slow or flawed in some ways, bc there's only a small number involved. It can lead to inefficiencies in some places but allows them some pretty significant freedom and other benefits elsewhere. Like Tynan pointed out, so many of their resources are pulled frequently in various directions for labs testing, videos, products, and sometimes Linus's personal use lmao

Do they have any kind of filtration/ventilation system for the printers (especially the resin ones)?
@tynanstack8251
@tynanstack8251 13 күн бұрын
Most of the resin systems we use have built in filters, and they are located far from other workspaces. For our FDMs we mostly use PLA/PETG which doesn't offgas much and our main print areas are large open areas or in non-office spaces

That's an optical comparator not CMM, we have a similar one at the shop I work at. They are pretty different.
@tynanstack8251
@tynanstack8251 Күн бұрын
In its current form it is a Video measurement system, I would say its closer to a CMM than an optical comparator though its likely a terminology difference. Optical comparators are generally described to "only" handle 2D measurements this is a 3D system that has the capability of having an additional touch probe.

@@tynanstack8251 we have a Keyence machine that has a light probe but it doesn’t do z depths, that option only had a .005” accuracy so we didn’t get that. Does that machine probe in z? If so that’s a great machine!
