Those stylish dunks (pretty damn cutting edge fresh for the time) were highly influenced by none other than the legendary Air Jordan..that's what made the game so addicting to me and still remains pound for pound the best basketball videogame ever released for it's time in terms of the impact/addiction it had on me. Konami nailed it with it's nes releases.

So do I. As advanced as modern games are, I find them to be too complicated . Old school sports games I could just put in and start playing and understand it and have fun. Modern sports games take hours to understand and get down Plus I really miss the couch aspect of old sports games. It was a lot of fun playing either against twitch my buddies in the same room

Boy, did we used to LOVE this game. One guy who ran a local game shop convinced us that you could VERY rarely shatter the backboard in close-up (like the dunks) under the correct conditions. We tried endlessly to get that to happen, but, sadly, it proved a lie.

Not true. There were consoles before this that had add ons that added voice to games. AVGN did some mini espisodes on them. This might be the first self contained cartridge that had voice for a game on the cartridge or the first NES game (which I doubt as Ghostbusters had a voiced intro in like 86) to have voice but it isnt the first voiceover in gaming console history by a long shot.

lol I loved this game as a child. There is a certain spot on the half court line that if you shoot from it will always go in. I'd shoot in reverse in that spot and loved the sound the ball made as it traveled up through the air..sounded like a bomb being dropped.
