Shockingly high quality gameplay for a game that tackles so many different genres. The only NES games I can think of that nailed every genre they did are Blaster Master, and Guardian Legend. Also the ending was great and wonderfully written.

My read is that a game developer got really high on shrooms and it was cute and humorous at first, but then it turned into a terrifying bad trip for a while, then it got kinda dramatic, before leveling off back at cute and humorous. Then he made a video game about the experience.
