in the early 1990s, the gaming world was filled with the Mario Craze. Games were modified where the characters were made to look like Mario.

I had the "mario" version more than 20 years ago, I bought the game in a Chinese department store, sometimes mario would turn into this guy for a second. The game crashed very often, when I got to the boss it would crash, I had to to take out a small yellow cassette every time the game crashed, and I would start from the beginning. I almost found out that it was not the original cassette, I was convinced that it was Super Mario 14. My sisters and I called that game "trash" because of the crashing :D

The reason is because there is a Chinese rip off version of this game that replaces the main character with another character called Mario therefore they renamed the game to super mario 14
