It's awesome to see a video that shows the guts of the controller. I'm not interested in the NES classic, but now I'm really excited about the fact that the new controller's board has the same dimensions as the original NES controller's board. With a simple board swap, you could essentially get a brand new, official quality controller for the old NES.

You should give more detail on the specific chips comparing them
@sinom5 жыл бұрын
(2 Years late I know) Kinda not possible since they use completely different technologies. Whilst the original NES has pretty much everything on a separate chip the classic doesn't even have these chips. The classic mainly has a main processor that then emulates the chips from the original console

Holy sheet! Motorola had its hand in the old NES controller workings? That's pretty rad!

Its just an old 4021 shift register. Most chip manufacturers have their own version of it. Motorola was likely just the cheapest supplier at the time.

The N64 controller worked well even though it was cramped despite being huge and the analog worns out. If they make a few changes to the controller it would be nice.

Yeah that's basically a Raspi, that's about it... It's honestly a waste of money. If you want to do this, there are tutorials on how to make a Raspi - NES... This is one of the biggest scams since Nintendo said "hey we are revamping Pokemon gold and silver/Ruby and Sapphire!"
@sinom5 жыл бұрын
The biggest costs for this system come from the licensing costs for the games. Eventhough the games might be old they are still under copyright and downloading them online is illegal. Basically if you're buying the NES/SNES classic you're buying the games not the console.

odstar You can pretty much extend any cord by clipping the wires, soldering it into a patch cable/cord (where "patch cable" doesn't necessarily imply an Ethernet or IEEE compliant cord) and taping it back together. Works fine with any of my game controllers. Some of them I've had for 20+ years, so viability isn't an issue...

Hi Tronics. I have an NES classic mini and I recently noticed that when the console is off (power button not clicked-in), the red light will turn on and off periodically, or will remain on for several seconds with a notice indicating; “shutting off console” (or something along those lines) on the TVdisplay. The console and games that I’ve tested appear to be working fine however, the reset button has lost all functionality. I’ve never hacked the console and cannot find any information regarding this problem on the internet. I’m not sure if a short has taken place, but was hoping that you can shed some light on the matter if possible. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

The classic edition's game pads need more powerful and sophisticated chips to do the exact same work?
@vuurniacsquarewave50917 жыл бұрын
Isn't the NES mini just emulation though? Somewhat inaccurate emulation at that? (The static noise from the audio is sampled, but incorrectly, without randomness, very easy to tell when you fire a metal blad in Megaman 2 for example because the sound comes out the same every time)
@kepeb18 жыл бұрын
Nice to see inside without paying but nothing "amazing". Just using the most ubiquitous hardware currently available and selling on the brand name alone. There have been knock off NES on a chip devices with hundreds of games, and a front-end, since about 1995. They were even small enough to fit inside a single controller back then. Retro sells, I get it! What I don't understand is, if they are going to piss with the controller connectors and make it incompatible with the original, why not have wireless controllers instead of the pitiful 3ft lengths.

What comparation the mini have a dual core AMR processor 2GB ram ,and can run easily neo geo and arcade game upscale 1080p also the fitters make the graphics much nicer then was on the original hardware

Joseph Brandenburg it's not the NES Classic is easy to break anyways. With other consoles, you have to worry about the much beefier power supplies burning out, disc drives, hard drives wearing out, and bad system software messing up the console. You don't have to worry about any of this on the NES Classic Edition.
