My favorite system is the Nintendo switch. This console has some of the best games (botw, oddysey, links awakening, sword and shield) which makes it great. Also though, it lets you take it on the go and the controllers are creative.

My favorite console is probably the Wii, I would say GameCube, but I haven’t played enough of it to warrant calling it my favorite. The Wii is surprisingly underrated for what it is. Obviously, it has a lot of shovel ware. But It has fantastic games like Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. Wii Sports and Resort. And many many more.

Glad to hear you finally got your hands on that, the toploader is one of my favorite, more obscure console redesigns! My favorite console was the Super Nintendo, and because I remember watching my father play A Link to the Past as me and my brother watched. He always turned up the volume during the victory jingle after beating a boss, which I do too nowadays on my Super Nintendo Mini in College.

The Game Boy has to be my all-time favorite console. That little handheld, along with a copy of Pokemon Red, was my escape from my parents arguing while we were getting ready to move to VA back in 2000. Whether I was at home or I went out, I had my Game Boy. Come to think of it, that might be part of what spawned my love for portable gaming.

Without any doubts, I think the Gamecube is my favorite system. Surprisingly enough, I did not grow up with the system, like most people. I got my Gamecube only 2 years ago, as a birthday gift from my dad, and I love every game I buy for it. Some of my favorites are The Legend of Zelda The Windwaker and Chibi-Robo. Nice toploader by the way! I hope to get one some day.

The Wii was big part of my childhood, when I was 6 (I'm 15 now) I got a Wii for my birthday along with Wii Sports and Mario Kart Wii. For years I spent hours into playing it, from winning rainbow road for the first time to beating subspace emissary in Smash Bros Brawl. This console has built many memories to me. Unfortunately I gave it away to save up money for a switch, which I honestly regret so much. I will miss my wii and I'm thankful I got to grow up with it.

The first system I truly ever bought for myself was a Gamecube. I started gaming when I was four, back in 1990. I had an Atati 2600 that caught fire. My next console was a Genesis at Christmas 1992. I had that until I was 15 (2001), when I traded that for an original Playstation. By the time I did that trade, the Genesis had suffered a few shorts in it. A decent amount of weight was required to get the player 1 control port and power supply to work. I also briefly had a PS2 that was gifted to me. But the Gamecube was my first console I truly paid my own money for. Gamecube remains my personal favorite console, due to having so many Sonic games, the better version of Mortal Kombat: Deception, Super Mario Sunshine, and of course, THE most comfortable controller ever made.

My favorite system is the original Xbox. I was 12 and saved all my money to buy it and a game called bloodwake. That wasn't too great of a game, so eventually I got, and played the hell out of Halo and THPS4. Too many hours playing Tony Hawk 4 with Adema and Linkin Park in the background... Nostalgia is a beast. Awesome video! I used to have that top loader. Unfortunately, my mother wasn't too aware of electronics so when the power cable broke she just threw the whole thing away rather than replace the power block. I'm still upset about it to this day lol

I would just get a Retron HD. They're only around $25-$30 and play all your NES games in HD. The sound and colors are a bit off, but it works great.

@@Demeech I own a Retron 5 and it's a decent alternative but suffers some lag. I even bought a hdmi to composite converter to play it on a crt TV which seem to help lag a little, but did not eliminate it. But Retron 5 is nice for some games, but Mario games I'd highly recommend original hardware because lag hurts gameplay on games like that.

My favourite console is the SNES. The games were probably some of the best during the 16 bit era, and at the time, it was a huge step ahead of anything else. The DS and the Switch are tied for second. Weird that the top loader is only coax out. The Japanese top loader Famicom had an AV port as the only output. (Called the Famicom AV) Great review as always. Keep them coming!

So many good game compilation like Mega Man and Sonic in my opinion. I like the GameCube controller as well, it's been my life when I was in elementary school and I remember going to my cousins house playing Super Smash Bros Melee and Mario Party 7 all Saturday night. So many good memories with the GameCube.

The NES is my favorite Nintendo system of all time. I love the first one and the second one a.k.a. The New-Style NES (also known by its model number NES-101, the New NES, the top-loading model, or simply the Top Loader). Nintendo marketed the New-Style NES model as the NES Control Deck, exactly the same as the original NES-001 model, only with a "new design" mark on the packaging almost 28 years ago.

I got a top loader for my birthday brand new sometime in the mid 90’s. I was so stoked. I had my little stack of nes games but our old style nes hadn’t worked in years. On my birthday after school my parents were waiting out front in the car. They popped the trunk and that little guy was waiting there with the 49.99 Kmart price tag still on it. Money well spent, it still works to this day. I don’t mind not having the av. Even my modern flatscreen has a coaxial hookup in the back for an antenna. And yeah it’s not the best output quality but these are SUPPOSED to look like sh!t, it’s the way I remember it from my childhood. When I want HD I use the mini console.

I recently dug out one of these systems and cleaned it out, but it isn’t mine (meaning it’s a little bit older tech than i am used to), so for the toploader I was wondering how to specifically turn it off without causing loud static and losing save data on my cartridges. As an explanation, whenever I flick the power switch down to turn it off, the screen goes static and it makes a very loud static-y sound. Is there anyway to avoid this? I’ve tried holding down the reset button and flicking the power switch but it does the same thing. I’m wondering if that’s just how it is considering that turning off the power interrupts the connection, but if it’s possible to change this using just the power and reset buttons, I would be thankful. (Side note, can someone explain to me the purpose of the reset button? Thanks!) Yours, -Lasag

A comment unrelated to the giveaway, this NES model is actually derived from a famicom revision called the AV famicom. It’s a really great model because It has the standard Nintendo AV port seen in the SNES, N64, and Gamecube. The system also has NES style controller ports on the front, and even comes with 2 of the “DogBone” controllers. The only flaw is while the Japanese Dogbone controllers function identically to the American ones, the cords are only 3 feet long.
