Nescafe DOLCE GUSTO Melody - Repair No power, no pump, working now - KP220

Hello Guys, Welcome to a new video. Today I am working on a Nescafe Dolce Gusto Melody coffee machine that has no power. The unit is broken for a year and was stored all this time. It is very dirty and full of coffee inside. Stay with me along the video to see how I have managed to fix this one.

Thanks for the description of the operation of magnetic sensor, I have same issue but a later model with many more connections on the board - fortunately the white cable made identification easy

Thanks for the great video…. My green light is in constantly with no flash. I’ve taken mine apart… and it looks like water has got inside! So I’m drying it out…. There is voltage from the two wires…. Pump isn’t working though. Hopefully when I dry it out…. It may once work again 🤞🏼🤞🏼

If my hold sensor sparked and made a loud clicking noise when touched with the screwdriver, would that suggest it’s very broken??

Hi Adrian, Brilliant videos - thanks very much. One problem - I have a dead Piccolo XS EDG110. Pump, heater & switch seem to work OK individually when powered externally, and power arrives at PC board OK, brown cables to pump & heater are +238v. But no light on PC board, and nothing works when all connected up. I can't see a cable to any magnetic switch for the capsule-holder, but there is a cable (2 white leads) to a component in the heater. If I short the PC board pins for that cable, still no power to pump or heater. Black cable to heater top is +238v, white connector from PC board to pump is +138v. All 3 thermal fuses show 0 resistance so are OK. Does the Piccolo not have a magnetic switch for the capsule-holder? Perhaps the PC board is faulty, though no sign of burning, and capacitors aren't bulging. What do you think?

Problem solved! It must have been a dry joint on the PCB. After I resoldered all the big joints, it is now working!!🙂

hello friend, could you help? I watched your entire video, but as I'm Brazilian and don't understand your language, I was a little lost. I have a basic notion in electronics, I measured the components of my machine on this model and I didn't find anything shorted, especially the thermal fuses are good. My alloy pumps water, it just isn't heating up. The led is only flashing red, when measuring does not pass current to the resistance, however I connected it directly to the outlet and it is heating up. Could it be that sensor in the capsule that you jammed? If you can help I am immensely grateful! Thanks!

brother greetings from venezuela, can you help me with my dolce gusto giving me some advice. it doesnt turn on the water pump, i turn it on and a red light is on and the stick i move it and the water pump you cant hear it. I disassemble, i tested the fuse is fine it has continuity. I bypass the water sensor, I disassemble the water pump clean it it was stuffy. i connect it direct to the electricity and you can hear it it turn on but in the machine no. what do i have to check? thank you

hello brother. I know what you are talking about and I had this defect on several units different models. I have tried to find out what is the part which causes this issue and was unsuccessful. Initially I thought it is the triac but it wasn't. The problem is somewhere on the main board. try to find a used machine with a different defect and swap the main board.

Awesome ! Stupid magnet, do you know where to find a replacement sensor ? I tried your way shorting it and yes the sensor is the problem.

That sensor is there as a safety feature to not pour hot water without the capsule holder and burn your hand. If you are not going to do that you are fine as is. No need for the sensor. Just enjoy your machine and caffe!
