This was also the first issue to come out in Canada. It also help raise the hysteria for Mega Man II like crazy. There wasn't a kid in any school yard in North America that wasn't aware of its release.

This was one of my favorite issues. As a kid who loved to draw-and who loved Mega Man-the Mega Man 2 illustrations in this issue became invaluable to me. Seriously, the person who did those drawings knew how to make hands dynamic. That might sound weird, but knowing how to draw hands can make or break your character. I also agree the Faxanadu illustrations in this issue were very strange. It’s too bad they couldn’t get the Howard and Nester illustrator to do them. He did a lot of the Dragon Warrior stuff in Nintendo Power and those were great!

NESComplex More than enjoying them, I'm loving every single one! We have a lot in common about how we feel about these games and the memories they hold. The care and love for what you do is noticeable and genuine throughout your content. I'm honestly really glad to have found someone that has such similar feelings about these things. All the best!

Fun fact: This was the first issue of Nintendo Power to be distributed in Canada as far as I know. Those of us who were subscribed to Nintendo Powerflash got this issue for free, and totally by surprise. It showed up for me on the same day that I happened to be staying home from school with the chicken pox. I had that thing memorized by the end of the week.

mega man 2 has some of the best video game music to date imo . The music of Wiley Castle 1 is amazing. Faxanadu my parents got that game for me and I wanted to cry i was like 8 or 9 yrs old and I had never heard of that game and i assumed it was going to be trash. I really wanted Friday the 13th. Well needless to say I popped it in and instantly fell in love with it. To this day its still one of my favorite NES games.

You KNOW I've been waiting for this one.. I completely forgot how much MegaMan 2 overshadows Faxanadu in this issue, though.. but rightfully so, I suppose. Although those illustrations are a bit odd, they are very unique and still scratch that nostalgic itch for me.. awesome episode, sir!
@NESComplex6 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! It's surprising since Faxanadu was published by Nintendo and Mega Man was obviously Capcom... you'd think maybe they'd have shown favoritism a bit

Thank you! I didn't know others were doing them. I haven't really looked, but i just wanted to do them but point out the weird, nostalgic, and interesting bits
@gurgamous6 жыл бұрын
yeah, they usually do them in one take flipping from page to page. classic gaming quarterly does em. i know ive seen at least 2 or 3 other channels do em like that but the way you do it is the most effective "time machine". i think it really transports your viewers to when those mags were fresh on store shelves. i know it requires more effort in editing and such with your approach but know that it shows in your vids and is appreciated
@NESComplex6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I wouldn't want to do them page by page. There's a ton of boring stuff in here and it would take hours
