36-bit floating-point binary number has 8 bits plus sign for the exponent. The coefficient is assumed to be a normalized fraction. The numbers in the coefficient and exponent are in sign- magnitude form. What are the largest and smallest positive quantities that can be accommodated, excluding zero? شرح السؤال وشرح الحل باللغة العربية

good, thanks. but if we were having 4 digits in our number system, it would still be base 10 :)))

There is an easy method for converting decimal to binary (0.625)dec = 0.625*(2^3)/(2^3) [multiply and divide by 2^3] =5/(2^3) [multiply 0.625 with 2^3 & [you will get 5] =101/(2^3) [convert 5 to binary] =[0.101]bin [now move left to three points because there is no 3 in the power of 2] you can use any number to the power of 2 but the same procedure need to be followed

I don't know how you got 0.984 x 2 = 1.936 from the decimal to binary since I got 1.968 and the calculator says the same.

But after it: 0.968 * 2 = 1.936 😊

You all think your so smart but you cant even take the first logical step of maths...if one is the smallest number after zero...how can i have 0.5??? A finger is a unit finger...but a unit finger is equal to lots of other stuff...
