I would like to say thank you so much. I suffer from the worst kind of ADHD. I have a very difficult time going from start to finish on anything.. Let alone a 50+ class on Operating Systems. Well here I am last class in the series. Thanks to the awesome way you guys lay everything out for your students. Your instruction is not only exciting, but very clear and concise. I am a fan for sure and look forward to not only starting, but finishing all of your computer science courses. Thanks for reuniting me to the word hope.. Sincerely, Aaron C. Hammock

Great series on os. However, its sad that we have to pay for the rest of the videos, especially when the goal of NESO Academy indicate: "We’re on a mission to provide high-quality education, we believe that the real world exists beyond the walls of costly institutions. Neso Academy is here to help you in all the possible ways." Would be great if the topics on process synch, deadlocks, main and virtual memory could be uploaded here.

? max thruput!=avg completion time. =least waiting time response time = time between user request from a program and the time the program does what's asked: relates to how quickly the cpu switches between tasks of different programs; rr has a steady interval of switching, fcfs varies with just how long it takes a process to finish up
@liewweijun67284 жыл бұрын
can you please further explain the response time in RR and FCFS? Because I'm not really getting the concept of response time between these two scheduling algorithms.

Isn’t the final answer incorrect? I think it should be FCFS since we have a proportionality on the waiting time, so it’s the first one to come in is going to be the highest priority

I disagree sir, unless I am wrong, throughput, which is the number of tasks divided by the total time, will remain constant. What Shortest Job First scheduling minimizes is the average wait time, since it completely finishes the shortest jobs and thus short jobs do not sit around doing nothing waiting for longer jobs to finish first. But overall, I think no matter what scheduling algo is employed, to finish all given tasks it will always take the same amount of time to finish, thus throughput is the same
@zi-digital Жыл бұрын
i think the problem is assuming there are indefinite amount of processes and, within the limited time frame , SJF can get most jobs done
