NessTone EL34 vs Mullard EL34 with 20 hours on them.

I've had Nesstone EL34s in my modded Dynaco ST70 for about four years now and have been quite happy with them. I did try a quad of KT77s at one point, which produced deeper bass, but I missed the sweet mids, which is a major selling point of running tubes. I have wondered about the new issue Mullards, so thanks for doing this video. I think you'd have to get a set of very expensive NOS EL34s to top the Nesstones. Guess I'll stick with them for now.

NOS Mullard El34 from the 1950-60s will have what you're looking for. They are a huge improvement when I compared them to new El34s.

For the magnepans I have to use the Aretha with higher voltage and I prefer the pas3 for the heritage speakers and Dynaco amps.

Hey Dr D ! Did you update the bass driver on your Heresy II? It doesn't look like the one mine. Did you make any other mods to them. I damped everything inside, stuffed them with polyfill, put all ofc wiring inside, rodoium plated copper binding post, entirely updated the crossover mundorf Supremes caps, copper foil inductor on the tweeter , Madisounds sledgehammer inductor and Audyn Q4 cap on the low pass and ofc copper wiring throughout, and the Crites titanium tweeter. It's unquestionably better all around now. Sorry for all the details, just wondering. I've watched a lot of your videos and can't recall what you've done with your set.

Hi there, no they’re stock except the legs. I tried to add Crites crossovers at one time but it was complicated for them because they didn’t see to know about the current crossovers being attached to the back of the speaker wire terminal.

Do you have Nesstone tubes in your pre-amp also? How much do tubes selection in pre-amp have on your overall sound?

Currently using Amperex 12AX7 from Great Britain but I’m gonna test others shortly for the PAS3. Great question.
