Me too. Poor bird ripped from it's companion, high chance of emotional trauma resulting in aggression and or plucking. Something like 80% of cockatoo end up in rescues after only a few years and they can live for decades. This one has a great human and was taken away. Makes me so mad.

She stole a VERY expensive hatchling. Proven breeding pairs of cockatoos are RARE and go for $30,000 and upwards from there if their eggs have a high hatch rate. She quit so she was no longer an employee of the zoo and therefore needed to return all zoo property...including their expensive ass bird. Zoos sell and loan rare animals (this one is a rarer type of cockatoo) in order to pay bills to stay afloat. She should have called those nuts at PETA or the Humane Society or some animal welfare group if the conditions were so bad. And funny she never names the "zoo." And what some people label as horrible to 99% is pristine. You never know unless you lay eyes on it yourself. She never shows us one shred of the "horrible conditions" she stole, I mean "rescued", this bird from!

Nessy is precious. Made me want to cry. I'm so glad he/she was saved and was able to grow up good and strong. Instead of the police being assholes and taking a sweet little bird like this from a caring man who saved his/her life, they should be going after the management of the filthy zoo that would have let the poor little thing die. People might like going to zoos to see interesting animals, but I think zoos are awful places. Poor animals stuck in cages or small simulated habitats just so humans can gawk at them all day long. Children scream and laugh which scares or annoys the animals. The habitats are often filthy with feces all over the place, and don't get the cleaning they need. You can truly tell that something is missing from the animals. That look in their eyes, like they're hollow shells of the animals they should be. The big cats want to roam and hunt, not be given a chunk of meat a couple of times a day. The elephants want to migrate in herds, large families, not just two or three in some small filthy simulated habitat. Monkeys and apes get so annoyed at people and especially screaming children. Why do people think they throw crap at them? That's the primate way of saying F*CK OFF! Anyway, you mentioned you had to pay for Nessy, so you definitely got him/her back? Because I would hate to think they would end up not giving Nessy back to you and he/she would have to live in an awful place like that and not have your loving care.

Looking at the tiny featherless bird at the early stage it makes me realize in nature the hardship mother bird has to endure laboring around the clock caring and cleaning as well constantly looking for food to feed her young. When the human baby cries in the middle of the night, you have heard of mother complains that she can't sleep and the crying noise drives her off the wall, but animals don't complaints. They just do their job. It is not easy for humans or animals mothers, but motherhood is driven by pure love and dedication to her offsprings. I salute all mothers.

Sure hope you got Nessie back!! Birds are naturally paranoid (especially cockatiels) so whoever that copper was should be ashamed. Birds live long lives if safe and happy. Did you get him back? If not where do we.write letter to? What # do we call in protest? Like some abortion cases....The father wqnts nothing to do with it, dumps the mom and tells her to abort. They then let the baby die never giving a second thought.His family? nobody cares... YET If the mama keeps it- and they find out later after babys 2-3 yrs old- suddenly the father and his family care and want baby! Then the Legal emotial battle begins and baby and mama suffer most. SHAME! GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER!
