Our nest has been in service here for a few months now. Twice, in heating mode, it has changed the desired temp from 70, up to 85 degrees. Fun.

I live in Illinois and have a company called Direct Energy and they will actually give you this for free (the 3rd gen version). The only stipulation is that you have to remain a customer with them for 2 yrs or you have to pay for the Nest to get out of it. I've already been a customer for 3 yrs so i'm cool with that. Prob wouldn't hurt to check your local energy providers.

Just bought a house that has this in it. So we didn't even have to buy this. Well sorta if you count the coast of the house. Lol but yeah I already smell savings. And lucky the house is in fl so the temp will be well bellow 67 degrees. So not expecting much from the energy bill.

Nest Thermo just stopped working on my second floor after working for 4 months and Nest support has no solution except to inform me that the problem is my heating system. which is still working fine downstairs with a basic cheapo thermo. Not a good product and even worse support.
@hanro506 жыл бұрын
Well it could be that your heating system might not be providing the nest with a "clean" or stable source of power. Which is fine for dumb simple thermostats, but reak havoc on the nests electronics Another option could be a rat that happened to have chewed thru some wires. If you still have your old thermostat, try reinstalling it and see if it works

John Strauss Same thing just happened to me, with no solution from Nest company. I ended up buying another thermostat, from Honeywell, they are the best, I had them for years and no problem at all.
@Goforitmanager6 жыл бұрын
You forgot to mention the thermostat going into away shortly after being turned on remotely, or shutting down the furnace after 5 minutes because the next phase of the schedule kicked in. Good build quality but poor performance. Take it from a 5 year user, got ours in 2013.

we live in NE wisconsin and the winter is pretty brutal and we generally have our heat set at 69-70F. we have hot water baseboard heaters and since our house is older (1956) there arent any AC air ducts. i know there is a location setting but will the nest know when to adjust for colder months after a long summer with little to no use in heating?
@MrDoubled508 жыл бұрын
Nest uses the outside temperatures into consideration to make adjustments, but it mostly learns from your first week or two of manual settings. It really does save you money eventually.

Wow. I've seen them to be a complete pain in the azz. If you service a unit you have to reprogram it every time. If the power goes out you have to reprogram it. Weather one services a condensing unit or an air handler and power is disconnected you have to reprogram it every time. The Eco Bee is better compared to the Nest. And not as expensive either.
@nyusufffff8 жыл бұрын
The best has a built in battery which lets it' save all settings in the event that the power goes out. All settings will be there once power goes back

Nest sucks, works great for a while and then you run into update issues, power sharing issues, its a known issue, look it up.

The power sharing issue is a common one, it all started with the most recent update. Good on you for not experiencing any issues. lets hope it stays that way :)
