If you just have a Red wire, hook it to either Rh or Rc, doesn't mater... Unlike most thermostats, the Nest Learning Thermostat does not require a jumper wire between Rh and Rc. Nest knows that if you've got heating and cooling, and just one R wire, the power source is shared between them. ... Nest Thermostat connectors are built so that only one wire can be inserted per connector.

You need to show wiring & set up for both gas furnace/ac… and heat pump with auxiliary/emergency!!! Now I have to go back to this house & check wiring at Nest & configure for heat pump! I just want to throw this in here for a heads up. When I installed mine, the "W" cord (the white one) was in the "W" slot on my old thermostat. When I inserted it into the "W" slot into the NEST, only the heat came on. If you're having this problem, take the "W" cord and insert it into the "O/B" slot. The video doesn't tell you this, so it might not apply to everyone, but that's what got mine working. Other than that, set up really is a breeze.

I bought one of these, and the first month it was in place my bill soared from 450 dollars to more than 1250 dollars. I called, and they said, "that happens sometimes." They told me how to turn off the "smart" features of the thermostat, and I paid my insane electric bill. I later found out my kids were coming home from school and cranking the ac down in the heat of summer when nobody was home, so that's what it started doing. Can't blame the company for that, but oh my goodness was that a sad discovery. It doesn't seem to shut off reliably when the temperature is reached (it gets way chilly) as well. Can't say I recommend this product because now it's just a pretty thermostat. There needs to be a warning on the box.

I just assumed it would be better than a regular programmable thermostat but it's not really the case. In my opinion the learning is a gimmick seems almost useless. Setup was overly complicated. Only a single person can have the app connected. Setting up a time schedule is 50x more complicated than it should be. After a couple of days I'd rate it 3 out of 5. If I had bought it at Costco or another store I visit regularly I would return it

Note that the Nest Thermostat is only meant to replace your existing thermostat. If you'd like further assistance looking into your system's compatibility with the Nest please reach out to our support team as we'll be happy to help!

@@googlenest Poor answer guys. There must be millions of houses with my set up. I've now established that you have a heat link to replace the control panel.
@googlenest6 жыл бұрын
You will only have a Heat Link if you're located in Europe or the UK. The Heat Link connects to your heating system in order to start and stop your heating and is controlled by the Nest Thermostat.

My thermostat is not connected with wires. It is connected through wifi I guess? Would nest thermostat work or am I SOL?

I don’t have wifi running yet. Can I still install the thermostat? Or should I wait until my WiFi is running?

What if you have 240vac 120vac and you already have a Nest thermostat? Anyway to connect it?
@EngineVSEngine6 жыл бұрын
Not to be nit picky but it would be better if there was a "W" and "Y" sticker to match the W and Y screws instead of W1 and Y1, just makes it more clear in my opinion

Does it need batteries? You just connect the display and it magically turns on?

do you need a four wire setup?

Doesn’t the red wire go into the Rc terminal? And not the Rh
@calvindejong45665 жыл бұрын
HardCore Racer either or terminal works. The thermostat automatically knows if you have one or 2 wires

Does turning off the power to the heating and cooling system, mean just the power for the wires to the thermostat or the power to the thermostat and the AC/Furnace?
@googlenest5 жыл бұрын
If you're installing a Nest, you'd want to turn power off to your HVAC system at the breaker box to ensure there is no power during the installation. Details here: nest.com/support/article/How-to-install-your-Nest-Learning-Thermostat

I have near 12 wires some of them don’t have corresponding attachment point, any idea what I should do?

when i hooked all the wires up to the base all i got was hot air. i had yellow in Y, green in G, orange in W1, white in W1, brown in C and red in Rh. when i moved the orange from W1 to OB and the red wire from Rh to Rc, i was able to get cold air when the AC was supposed to be on.
