I wonder how latex differs from this foam? Trying to decide between the owl and this one.
@goodbed Жыл бұрын
Latex and Energex have some similarities in their rapid response and slight pushback, but I think the overall feel is a bit different. Energex feels a bit more like traditional polyfoam, whereas Latex feels very much like Latex! It's hard to explain until you see them side by side, but Energex has a slightly more relaxed cushion, whereas Latex has a bouncier, more lively sense to it.

Hey Mike, Thanks for all your hardwork on these. You have the most thorough/educated reviews I have seen. Your videos ultimately helped me decide on the mattress I bought a few years ago and I love it! Have you ever thought about getting into reviewing office chairs? I was just looking to purchase a high end office chair that will be better on my back and there is nothing out there similar to the depth of your reviews. With the move towards work from home, I would love to see you get into that space as I could really see you being a leader there.

Thanks for forwarding this updated review. The Nest ASH now has a zippered top and so you can swap out the top to change the push/firmness rating if you buy a level that doesn’t work for you. I just purchased the Luxury Firm because I thought the medium was a bit too soft for back sleeping, but if I need more softness, I can change that without swapping out the entire mattress. I decided on the Nest ASH vs the Saatva mostly because the Nest Albany showroom is close by and I could test in person. Nest also has a better return policy. Saatva looks really nice, but there’s nothing like seeing a mattress in person. Will review the Nest ASH after I’ve tried it out.

Great! Yes, the ability to access that top 3" layer of foam is a bonus -- you can swap it out to extend the life of the mattress, or if your softness preferences change. Thanks in advance for the review and sleep well!

@@rachels.1245 Yes - kept the bed. The firm was too firm, but the bed was also a bit hot and so instead of switching out the top layer, I bought an Avocado plush topper (which doesn’t not sleep hot). The combo works well. I tried other beds (including avocado and wink) and liked Nest the best. I probably should have tried the medium top layer before buying the avocado topper, but I really like the organic cotton and latex.

Hi Fabian. Have you seen the written version of our reports on those beds? There, we break down our support ratings by sleeper type and position, so you can compare apples to apples. Here's our page for the Winkbed: www.goodbed.com/reviews/winkbed-mattress-review/ And for the Nest Alexander Hybrid: www.goodbed.com/reviews/nest-alexander-hybrid-mattress-review/ You might also check out the 'plus' version of the Winkbed, here: www.goodbed.com/reviews/winkbed-plus-mattress-review/ This mattress is made with heavier people in mind, and for side sleepers of roughly 250 lbs, we thought it was excellent in terms of support, edging out the regular Winkbed and also the Nest Alexander Hybrid. Hope that's helpful!

Hi Brent. Thanks for the question. If you head to our written page on this mattress, you'll see our ratings breakdown separated by body weight and sleep position. Keep in mind we tested the Medium version -- which we found to be more of a Medium Soft. We would expect the Luxury Firm to be closer to a true Medium (though we did not specifically test that model). We thought the medium would be pretty good for back sleepers, especially those on the lighter end of the scale. We would expect the luxury firm to be an improvement on those ratings in terms of back sleepers. Hope that's helpful!

Hi there -- thanks for watching the videos. Either can meet your needs depending on what they are -- but the latex model includes more natural materials (that's important to some people but not others). Did you know we have written pages on both of these models? They include a more detailed ratings breakdown for sleeper types: Nest Alexander Signature: www.goodbed.com/reviews/nest-alexander-hybrid-mattress-review/ Nest Alexander Hybrid: www.goodbed.com/reviews/nest-hybrid-latex-mattress-review/ You'll be able to see our ratings for both mattresses on (for example) back support for 150-pound side sleepers. I'm about 130lbs side sleeper sometimes combination. also, does the firmness gets too soft over time? for both Oceano and Alexander? if so, not sure If I should stick to oceano and it gets softer overtime?
@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for the comment. Have you seen our review of the Oceano? We also found it to be a medium firm. A lot of mattresses "look" like they will be soft and plushy, but sometimes are firmer than you'd think. www.goodbed.com/reviews/brentwood-home-oceano-mattress-review/ We found the Nest Alexander Signature Hybrid to be a medium soft -- so a good deal softer than the Oceano. As for whether mattresses get softer over time -- the answer is "yes" but for most, it takes a long time and won't be noticeable from day to day. So if you are hoping that your medium-firm Oceano will turn into a medium soft bed in a few weeks, it most likely will not. Hope that's helpful!

I’m curious to see how this mattress will hold up over time. I’ve seen some reviews saying that the bed begins to sink in the middle after only a year. The sleepers didn’t weight very much either. Most of the reviews were of the older design, so maybe the new design has fixed this potential issue.
@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Vince. Thanks for the note. A hallmark of almost all consumer reviews for mattresses are complaints of "sagging." However, there are some nuances you should understand with those complaints. If an owner complains of sagging in the middle of the mattress, that's an indication to us that the mattress has an insufficient bed frame or box support. Most mattresses are so heavy these days that they really need a center support -- usually an additional leg in the middle. Bed frames with slats also work well. If an owner, however, complains of body impressions -- that's when the mattress stops springing back to shape once you get off the bed, leaving permanent impressions where your hips were -- that is more concerning as it could indicate that the top comfort materials are compressing. If the bed is very soft to begin with, that compression can happen faster in a mattress's lifetime. And this effect can also be enhanced by variations in body weight. And for almost every brand, you find reports of one or the other, or both. That's where warranty can give you some reassurance. All mattresses include a warranty against such body impressions. Nest Bedding includes a warranty of impressions greater than 1" -- and that's much better than the industry average for hybrid mattresses, which is 1.5". So that's one factor that can give you more confidence. And that warranty lasts for the entire time you own the mattress. I'm not trying to "sell" you on the Nest one way or the other -- just wanted to point out that complaints of sagging are common to all brands, and that you can look to the warranty as a way to provide some peace of mind. Good luck with your mattress search!

Don't do it! I've been thru 2 of these Latex models in 3 years, I weigh 175 if you wonder. The Latex warms in the summer and the springs poke me bad, even with a 2" memory foam topper! Like sleeping on rocks. Horrible product and now the deny any warranty because it's not sagging, it's one year old and is a throw away, stay away! Someone should review beds at 3-5 years, they all feel nice when new!
@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ken -- Thanks for your comment. Are you sure you're talking about this mattress? The Signature Hybrid has no latex in it. Nest does have a latex hybrid -- is that the one you're talking about? FWIW, all of this is very surprising to me as I've slept on multiple mattresses with latex over pocketed coil construction and never had an issue with durability. To the contrary, we've found it to be perhaps the most durable type of mattress overall. Net, based on the description you provided, this sounds to me like a defect, especially the part about the springs poking out of the mattress -- that should never happen and would be covered under any mattress warranty. Nest has always had very good customer service in our experience, so if it is a Nest product you have, I'd expect them to make this right. On the latex hybrid, you can unzip the top and see what's happening inside. So if there is a spring that is poking out of its pocket or the like, that would be very obvious to them in a picture. I hope that's helpful.
@kenstanton99624 жыл бұрын
@@goodbed Mine is the Latex Hybrid, same bed but uses Latex instead of memory foam. Let me ask, have you ever slept on any Latex bedding product for more than 2 years? I've been in the Latex industry for over 35 years and know the product fairly well, it's a fantastic product at first but doesn't hold up as it's a natural, biodegradable product and it starts to break down the second it's hit the ozone. I've had toppers, 100% Latex beds etc, all we're fantastic new, that's what sells me every time, but none of the products have lasted more than 2 years max, some much less. The bedding industry doesn't want to hear this as gimmicks are what sell. Nest so far has pretty much indicated I'm a complainer and because it's not sagging they deny any claim and tell me the mattress appears to be performing as it should, and feeling the springs when simply sitting on it is normal, what???? The first one their inspection team came out, pushed on it with their hands and felt the springs and simply said, it's shot and thus gave me another one of the same, one year later same problem, it's shot! Feel free to ask any more questions. I try to be as honest and straightforward as possible, nothing to gain by simply complaining but others need to know before spending 1700 on a bed rental. The springs poke me in the ribs and hips all night, over it. I've also added a 2" foam topper to try to hide the springs, helps but still feel them, that's how bad it is. Again, I'm only 175lbs and single on a cal king. Will never buy any Latex bed product again,or recommend them, and memory foam is hot and stinky, what to do? I had an allergic reaction to the formaldehyde used in the first foam bed I tried, beds hate me evidently, just want a comfortable sleep that's all I ask, is it too much?
@kenstanton99624 жыл бұрын
@@treis531 Haha, no I wouldn't say that but currently on an Ortho Continental Plush Hybrid, so far it seems like a good mix of soft yet supportive, time will tell. Ask me in a couple years. Honestly it's as much my damn bursitis in my hips as much as bad beds. It turned out to be the latex in the nest, I've tried all kinds of latex products over the years and none hold up for any length of time. It's a biodegradable product so expecting it to stay the same over the years makes no sense to me. Good luck, plenty of junk out there.

@goodbed4 жыл бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks so much for your comment. I'm sorry to hear that this mattress hasn't been to your liking, and that you've been disappointed with the return process. With regards to feeling the coils, that's very strange. It sounds like you and I are nearly the same height and weight. It's hard to know how we compare in terms of build (shoulder width would be a relevant factor, for example), but I am a little surprised that "feeling the coils" was such a pronounced issue for you. As you saw discussed in the video, we carefully assess pressure relief in the side-sleeping position as part of every review, and I certainly don't recall this ever being an issue in our experience. To the contrary, we found the pressure relief to be good here for most sleepers. I also don't remember these coils being particularly stiff as coils go, and the pocketed coil design adds to their conforming ability (at least relative to connected coils or a block of firm support foam) which generally helps with pressure relief as well. That said, every sleeper is different, and one way people can differ is their pressure relief needs. Did you find that you actually experienced pressure points (eg, soreness in your shoulders or hips, or loss of circulation in your arm or leg) when sleeping on this mattress, or was it more just disconcerting to be able to physically sense the coils? If the former, I would think that you have more acute pressure relief needs than the average person. People do vary on this front, and it's also the case that we all develop more acute pressure relief needs as we get older. In any case, if you are in this camp, there are certainly mattresses that we'd rate as having better pressure relief for you than this one, so I'd take a look at those options as a next step. With regards to the return policy, I'm confused by this and would love some clarification so we can best advise other shoppers. First, you mention needing to use a proper foundation so as not to void the warranty. This is true of literally every mattress, however it sounds like you are returning the mattress (not making a warranty claim) so I'm confused why this would have been brought up to you in this case. Likewise, seeing evidence of a mattress protector is sometimes part of making a warranty claim, but I wouldn't expect to have any relevance during a return. All that said, it certainly makes sense for a return policy to stipulate that you can't buy a mattress, proceed to completely trash or mistreat it, and then return it. This would be readily understandable for any other type of product as well. So perhaps the pictures and questions you are being asked are designed simply to confirm that this was not the case here (?). In any case, I hope that's helpful, and thanks again for your comment.
