@@goodbed thank you so much for doing this for me. i sincerely appreciate it. i am having analysis paralysis in choosing. i was going to get paramount HD superduty because of how well made it is but the extra firm is too firm and the plush is too soft. so i am back to square one. trying to keep mattress depth below 13" so i don't have to buy new sheets!!

Hi Linda -- Thanks for your question. No, the one shown in this video is a standard queen. Mike is 6 feet tall so is on the tall side to be using a queen size in the first place. On top of that, when any mattress is used an adjustable base, its functional length gets a bit shorter as the base is elevated higher and higher. That said, Mike also accentuates this effect by slouching a bit more than he normally would in order to keep the bottoms of his shoes from touching the mattress. I hope that's helpful.

Hi there -- Assuming you just mean a mattress "protector" -- and not a foam topper of some kind that has an inch or more of thickness to it -- adding that plus your sheet will have minimal effect on most of the properties we test and describe. The "coolness to the touch" will be greatly reduced, however the overall cooling properties of the mattress as we measure them will be largely unchanged, since those go well beyond what you feel when you first touch the mattress or lie down on it for the first 10-15 minutes. Memory feel, cushioning depth, and bounce will all be pretty much unaffected. Same for things like edge support, ease of repositioning, adjustable base compatibility, etc. Your protector can add a little softness, but it would have the same added softness on any mattress. Likewise, your protector and/or sheet can have an effect on motion isolation, but this effect would generally be the same no matter what mattress you use them on. So in either case, the underlying properties that we measure are still a relevant benchmark, and are the best way to compare different mattresses. I hope that's helpful.

Hi there -- Thanks for your comment, and very sorry to hear about your experience. FWIW, the only explanation I can think of for how this frame could be the cause of worsened motion isolation is if your floor is not 100% level, meaning the weight is not evenly distributed across the legs. In that case, the increased strength and stability of this frame would actually be a negative since it wouldn't just bend to accommodate the contours of the floor, and would instead tend to "rock" back and forth as weight is shifted on the mattress - sort of like a wobbly table at a restaurant. So that might be something to check. If it's not that, then I would have to assume there must be some defect with the specific unit you received. I hope that's helpful.

I would not be able to tell you that one is universally better or worse than the other, since that would be misleading. However I can give you a side by side comparison that will let you see exactly how they differ. I think you'll find them similar enough that if one works for you, both will probably work for you. But on the margin, you might find one or two features that make the tie-breaker in your case. I wouldn't make the mistake of thinking just because you had an expensive Tempurpedic, and you didn't enjoy it, that all expensive mattresses are bad. I would HIGHLY recommend you check out and try Airelooms, specifically their Preferred Collection, and above (Preferred, then Karpen, then Kluft Collection). Probably the most comfortable mattresses, with the best materials and construction I've come across. Second to them, with a slightly different feel, but also great are the Pranasleep Karma Hybrids and Dharma Collection. They are very comfortable, well built, sleep cool, are breathable (way more breathable than a pure foam mattress) and mostly use various firmnesses of Talalay Latex.
