www.sealheating... ‎ Are you having Nest thermostat issues in the Fort Worth area? As a technician, many people ask me "How do I fix my Nest thermostat?" Some folks are just so fed up with the thermostat that they have me replace it with a basic Tstat. Fact is that this is the wave of the future and all thermostats will be Wifi capable. Therefore, it's best to learn as much as we can about the Nest thermostat, or other Hi tech thermostat, you have to make life easier. First thing is first ... was it installed correctly? Majority of issues are due to a poor installation by home owner or technician. Customers have experienced power issues or a low voltage short causing the thermostat to perform poorly. I would suggest to call the company that installed back out so they can fix it for free. Calling another company will result in a service fee and diagnostic fee.
Second, make sure that you have had your air conditioning system served and a maintenance. If you live in Fort Worth / Keller TX area, we can service your unit. www.sealheating.... Even a filthy filter can have a severe affect on your AC system and cause many problems
Third; Go through your settings and make sure everything is what you want it to be. Remember, the Nest thermostat is a self learning piece of technology and will reprogram itself if you allow it. Kind of sounds weird and even big brother’ish but that’s the reality we live in. The most common issue I have is that customers complain that the Nest switched to a temperature they didn’t want it on… Please first ask your kids or mother in law that’s staying for the week if they tampered with the temps. I go into the settings then choose Nest Sense. Here I move Auto away to the off position. This allows the home owner full control of the Nest and has solved a lot of issues. Please comment or ask any questions. Thank you

I had an issue just like this. The first time I set a schedule, it was to raise the A/C to 76 at 10pm, then to 74 10am the next morning. Woke up at 5am because my 2 year old was screaming, and it was because the house was FREEZING. I went to the Nest, and the A/C was on set to 64. I did what you showed in your video to change to off. Could that have been the issue? That was the first and only time it happened, and it was the first time I had set a schedule; which I did check twice to make sure it was correct.

My gen 3 Nest is overheating. Set at 23 degrees and when I came home yesterday it was 32 degrees. I shut it off and restarted it, tonight set at 23 and it is 29 degrees. I've had it for 1.5 years and this is the first time it has ever messed up.

We moved into a house with a nest and for the life of me I cant figure it out! Does the fan have to be on in order for the house to be cooled? As soon as the fan switches off the temperature rises. Ive had the fan running non stop for 2 days and Im wondering if that will crank up my electric bill.

Could be a couple things. The location of Nest may read its relative area and not what is the house. Second, If there is cold air coming through the wall its mounted on, that may affect the reading. Otherwise, you may need to call Nest directly and they will give you a new unit if needed. Is this a Gen2 or Gen3?

Pull the Nest controller off and look through the hole in the middle where the wires come out. If there is a large hole in the drywall where the wires are coming out, seal it with some foam in a can or some other creative way.

I have a problem. I'll have the Nest set to 68-70 or so and the AC will turn on for a minute, stop, wait like 5 minutes, turn on again and stop. House is always at 78-85 degrees even though we always have the Nest set at 68-72. Sometimes you can hear the fan running, but not very much and the air coming out isn't cold. I've gone through the settings in my Nest app I dont know how many times and tried out different things. Turned Eco mode off, deleted the schedule, turned on certain things I normally have Off and vice versa, etc. No change. This thing just has a mind of its own. Does whatever the hell it feels like doing. I just had the entire AC system replaced in January, and I've already called them back out twice to look at it. So I don't think there's anything wrong with the system itself. Thank you.

@@Sealheatingandairconditioning Just a couple years old. I installed it myself when we got solar. Yes it's a gas forced air system (so i think it's a heat pump): 5Ton 14SEER Goodman heating and air conditioning unit And the first time they came out the guy said there was a loose wire at the unit, so he tightened the screw. Second time they came out, they said they didn't really find anything wrong but it was working fine at the moment, so they left. Next day it started acting up again.

@@twistersolutions8931 Not a heat pump. Call out a different company. Usually a second set of eyes will see something the other guys missed. We had a cold cold night last night. Our Nest 3Gen was set to 68 degrees heat. The temp stayed at 61 over night, my son told me he was freezing. I would hear the furnace turn on but I felt no heat like it would just blow air. It did that like 3 times over night. Our NEST unit has a couple of issues I can"t figure out. While cooling, sometimes it goes from high speed fan to low speed fan, then abruptly kicks into high speed again. Also, I set the night temp to 70 at 7pm. It takes a long time to reach it. When setting a temp, is it supposed to be that 70 degrees by 7 or does it begin cooling at 7pm?

Question for you. I just got a nest learning thermostat yesterday. I have the nest app and I have the Google home assistant hooked up to it. It has worked perfectly fine all day, where if I want to turn it down 1 degree, it immediately switches on. All of a sudden tonight, the room temperature was 76 and I wanted it down to 75. It took over 10 minutes for the system to click on. When I contacted support, they said that it's normal to take a couple of minutes. Why would it work perfectly fine all day when I would adjust it by 1 degree and all of a sudden it is taking 10 minutes for the same function?
@Sealheatingandairconditioning

@shadow03clb
@shadow03clb 5 жыл бұрын
@@Sealheatingandairconditioning Does this mean it won't click on? I also find that the system is running a lot longer than it did with my old thermostat. My old thermostat would cause the system to may be run for about 7 to 9 minutes. The nest causes the system to at least run for 15 to 20 minutes, if not more. So I'm afraid I'm going to see in increase in my energy costs. I followed some of your instructions last night and I took off some options. However, I saw that I already had times in my schedule when I looked at the app. I don't want schedule times at this time so I deleted the times. Is this correct if I want to just be able to control it myself?

Is there a way to view past error codes?

What is the error code?
@Conald_isAfalseProphet
@Conald_isAfalseProphet 3 жыл бұрын
@@Sealheatingandairconditioning haven't seen one yet, about once a month it just shows the "equipment detected" screen and is missing the common wire that is there and connected both in the Tstat and the AHU. It has worked for a few years but over the last few months it seems to end up on the screen I mentioned.. I am thinking maybe the transformer is going bad but I don't see why it would be intermittent so I'm considering other possibilities. That's why I was wondering if I could view past error codes somehow?

@@Conald_isAfalseProphet Good question.. I wouldn't know but Nest has good tech support and I'd try there. I never tried checking past codes

@@Conald_isAfalseProphet also, when a transformer goes bad, it's gone. could be a loose connection, float switch or relay going out
@Conald_isAfalseProphet

@@Sealheatingandairconditioning fuse and float switch were my next guesses but I agree, the transformer and fuse wouldn't be intermittent. I'm guessing it's the float switch and then when it clears it comes back on a few hours later when it gets power back.

I have a Nest 3rd Gen and I’m getting an error code e102 on initial install. My wire looks like it is installed correctly... Would I be having problems because I have a gas furnace then later installed an AC unit? More importantly; How do I fix it!

Aaron Wood sounds like you may have blown a fuse. Turn off the power and check the fuse thats on the circuit board

So... Where is this circuit board? On the furnace? The self test for the furnace is when I first got the error.

The board is at the furnace. You will have to open the compartment by removing the panel.

I didn't have this problem of nest setting temperature too low by itself two years ago. Now I have this problem. Google (nest is bought by google) programmer think the nest smart enough to figure out your life patterns and set the temperature accordingly, but this thermo is definitely not that smart. Or perhaps it became stupid recently, setting things to average temperature for everyone. Very annoying. Long way to go google!! You will lose customers that way before nest become smarter.

So why even get a nest? Just buy a reg thermostat. It will do the job. :( Is there any benefits to get one? I guess so you can uses the app to turn it up and down.

DEO CHHETRI this is a wiring error code.. The wrong wire (w1) is inserted into a connector. It is fully inserted and there is only one place w should go.

Finally i realized I am not the only one wondering why the Nest shuts down in summer or cold or turns hear to 78 on winter. Not worthy - it is not smart - rather stupid. Get a cheaper programmable one - the “smart set up” simply does not work
