I was hoping NestDrop included a way to make/edit presets. How can we do that?

Thanks for your comments. NestDrop was designed for live performance, not for presets editing. For Preset edition, we recommend to use Winamp with Milkdrop as explained in this tutorial. vimeo.com/391709724

I’m confused about the effects how do they work with nested sprites what do each of them do, how do I get a sprite to burn deck 2 , is there somewhere I can find a list of what each effect does cause I didn’t see a folder for it in the plug-ins file

The Sprites effects are described and can be edited in the file milk2_img.ini in the Plugins folder. To use them for the deck 2 you can simply right click on them. For others and more advanced usage about Sprites and Spout Sprites, I suggest to look at the Sprites section in the pdf manual or look for more tutorial video in the NestDrop Reddit forum.

Hey there ! I was originally planning on using ProjectM for a tiny rave project, but I just discovered your software and I really love its features. However, I couldn't find any way to easily add all presets to a queue, a sort of "set and forget" feature for people who don't plan on actively VJing and just want to let the program cycle randomly through the giant library in sync with the music. A bonus killer feature would be to also overlay textures at random times, in order to add to the trippiness and unpredictability ! Is there any way to do some of this that I missed ? Or would you be so kind as to consider implementing it someday ? ☺️

Hello, thanks for your comment. You can add a full group of preset into a queue by dragging the title of the group, it works also with bookshelf (black box with green dashed line). Since there is only few group, you can add all in a few clicks. Not sure what you mean by overlay preset, but with the Midnight edition you can mix multiple video deck using Spout Sprites.

@@nestdome That's awesome, thank you ! I meant randomly have textures overlaid on some presets when they're selected, not sure if that can be done

@@mickabrig7 you can create a Preset queue for Deck 1, then a Sprite queue dedicated for Deck 2, then overlay deck 2 over Deck 1. This way Preset and Sprites can change randomly. You can also add a Black Sprite images into your Sprite queue for display only the Presets for a certain amount of.

how do you full screen the actual visuals? I can make the preview 1/1 but its still windowed

Hello Charlie, the direct output is a feature of the Midnight Edition. But if you installed Spout, in the spout app folder, you have a free Spout receiver that you can force to fullscreen mode (using 'f' key if I remember correctly)

Somebody told me I needed nest drop midnight version so I got it.. still I cant figure out how this works...I am able to choose out put channel inside the application but as soon I do do... I got the error loop something... I am running Ableton live currently,,, sending my audio out via reaplugs directly into OBS..reastream plugin... been using the standard program for some time and I know a bit...still now since I want my own music to dance with milkdroo to my stream I cant make it work... I used voicemeeter.. and now not anymore and installed again... gosh...... installed ,reinstalled.... I still don't get any difference in visualizer still doing the same thing all the time.. so frustrating.. I have like 6 virtual cables connected as well.. nothing of them helps me as I know I do something' wrong.. but now I need some, one clever to help me out...as soon I choose the output... I get that Error audio client, initialized with loopback failed, maybe your audio device dont support loopback feauture. hr 0x88890008... so how to make this software listen to what I play? some easy way. Still I support you guys for your work... but now I need my own show to be working too.. how do I make your program to hear my music??????

Hello Naeyoo, sorry about that. Can you tell us what audio device are you using? How NestDrop work to ear the music from an output channel, it use the Loopback feature to get access to the data buffer and grab the sound data. Some audio device don't have this feature unfortunately and you get this error pop-up. But NestDrop don't need loopback for input channel. There is a way to send your sound to an input (line in, or mic in) ? Also, NestDrop don't support ASIO driver yet (but it's in the pipeline) and some audio device can be opened only by one app at once using ASIO drivers. I don't have details about your setup, but I think the safest way would be to put a real wire from your pro audio device and connect it to the line-in of your motherboard and use this line-in in NestDrop.

Thanks for your reply. I think I am on the right way to solve this issue. and maybe someone else will run into this and it could be a life saver. I have been using the free version of Nestdrop couple of months.. and it all worked for my purpose. I made the program to dance with whatever audio source I used… Spotify, Tidal, virtual DJ , chrome audio and more. The default audio worked as it should. It was the limitations of the free software. Then I decided to start to make music again.. so I invested time learning to use ableton live.. bough a midi controller and that is history..So I wanted to share my work with others..but I wanted to do it the fancy way with audio visualization… and here the problem started… To really send your audio from your DAW, u need it to be in high quality and less to no latency… so in the DAW u choose of course an ASIO driver, in my case.. Asio4all.. the sound you hear comes to your default speaker, which can be your external speakers or a third party application as voicemeeter.. and OBS to send it to a stream…So I learned about adding a VST plugin to my ableton live, master audio output this could be done… so Reaplugs/ restream standalone plugin to OBS, then added audio input capture in OBS and filter… restream standalone… I sent my music to my twitch stream.. perfect audio… then I missed the visualization…how to add milkdrop to my music… whatever I did… nothing worked.. either not detected or it was errors saying loop…nothing could detect the audio I was playing as I was a VST plugin and no real channel So I had a sleepless night and was thinking..why wont nest drop hear my music whatever I do… or trick then I found a solution.. since I don’t have any hardware inputs… only by soft.. I need to make an “extra” audio output from my OBS stream…send an extra audio far away from Twitch…Installed the “audio monitor plugin” for OBS.. added a filter to my reastream standalone and dedicated it a virtual cabel-and turned off all monitoring and inside nestdrop config.. I choose this cables output.. and suddenly after long time… I can see how my music moves with nestdrop and it feels great to have achieved this even if I far from technical 😊 but u get to be happy once you get some wins.. Again..I really love your work Do you have your own channel somewhere, like a forum to discuss? I was in reddit couple of months back and had some issues which was covered later. Lets do some amazing music and visuals… shall we?

have a question.. when set to listen to default audio nothing happens it wont react to music... using voicemeteers, and some virtual cables. my default out put is voicemeeter input. which is correct. frustrating. Would love to be able to tell to nest drop which device to listen too instead. its like seek and error.. I actually want to use nestdrop together with ableton live when sending music to OBS with reastream plugin... still I can monitor the audio through voicemeeter and can change over there but the nestdrop wont catch any sound so instead of the visuals together with the sound..its just dancing on it self... loosing the purpose of it. Any help maybe?

Well the I think you should check for the Midnight Edition, which have a selection for the audio device to use in the settings.
