Yes! It's all about fossil fuel companies trying to maintain its monopoly against less costly, cleaner renewable energy. Power generation from renewable energy technologies is increasingly the lowest cost power. The most dramatic decline has been seen for solar PV generation; the cost of solar energy was 56% less than the fossil fuel-fired alternatives in 2023, having been 414% more expensive in 2010. Also in 2023, the cost of new onshore wind projects was 67% lower than the fossil fuel-fired alternative, having been 23% higher than the weighted average fossil fuel-fired equivalent in 2010. The new renewable capacity added since 2000 is estimated to have reduced electricity sector fuel costs in 2023 by at least USD 409 billion, showcasing the benefits renewable power can provide in terms of energy security.

A couple of things stand out. One is the weight of the EV Battery. The tyre wear is heavy The oil bases road surface still need oil. Even if they use concrete that would take even more co2. Tesla y model Battery weight is 750kg A 2 litre diesel engine is 200kg Petrol 180kg So these Battery are hammering the infrastructure at a greater rate yet they get all theses grants. It's all about money somewhere in the wrong pockets

FACT. In 2023, Germany became a net importer of electricity for the first time since 2002. Then they shut the Nuclear plants down in April 2023. In the first half of 2024, Germany imported 6.3 TWh of electricity from France, which was the highest amount of electricity imported from any country.

There's also Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, and all the other eco-loons who relentlessly and successfully campaigned against nuclear power in Britain who should have answer for the damage they caused to the environment. It's ironic that the French who told them to go take a running jump and built nuclear anyway have much lower emissions (and more reliable power) than the countries who listened to them.

@Flik_13 EVs need to use extra energy in winter to warm the battery (15-35°C) during charging and while being used. Interestingly for supercharging, TESLA heats the batteries to 45-48°C for max speed (supercharge V3) which is in the degrade danger zone for Li-Ion so I wonder how they get around that?? Your neighbor's car should preheat itself whilst on wall power but maybe he forgot to configure something IDK? Please ask your neighbor

Net zero is an accounting trick. India and China can do all of this and still reach net zero. How? Because NET doesn't mean GROSS. NET means after you substract all the offsets. So all India and China have to do is send some money to parts of the world with little to no carbon emissions in order to have them "offset" those carbon emissions (that is to say on their books india and chinas emissions where actually theirs). Spread that across enough places and everyone looks on paper like they have low emissions while emissions actually grow. Net zero has always been a lie. It's a greenwashing scam to sell you products you don't want or need, and to gain support for higher prices. That's the entire point. Plastic bags at the shops didn't magically change from single use to multiuse because they started charging for them. They were literally the same bags only now you had to pay for them. Now they've got rid of the plastic and want to sell you inferior paper bags for 25c to $1 each defending on the store which ironically means we're cutting down trees that could otherwise sequester carbon. It's a huge lie that does nothing to benefit climate change.

Germany shut the Nuclear plants down in April 2023. Also in 2023, Germany became a net importer of electricity for the first time since 2002. In the first half of 2024, Germany imported 6.3 TWh of electricity from France, which was the highest amount of electricity imported from any country. That's a lot of money going out of the country. Such a business is absolutely bulletproof normally. But the absolutely, totally and hilariously outrageous energy prices in Germany really do a number on me. I got my final invoice for electricity this year and I had to (literally!) sit down and breathe. Way over 15,000 Euros. That is just insane for a small shop. And that is only electricity for the shop. No heating, no A/C, nothing. Just basic lighting and the machines. Ten years ago I paid WAY less than half the money. I didn't heat my shop for the last four years or so because it is just impossible. It would cost (and that is no joke!) several hundreds of Euros PER DAY.

We have a ten year old V8 sits on the drive most days less than 5000 miles a year yet we pay over £700 for road tax. However its a great drive and would not be seen dead in a EV.

How much was the car? Perhaps you should have considered one which you could afford.

@@Jacob-yb6bvThey didn't say they couldn't afford it, just pointed out the amount. "Road tax" is deliberately set to discourage ICE sakes.

@@Jacob-yb6bv Would have been bought before the dumb UK governments raised the insane price hikes for petrol car road tax.

UK here, we have a very malicious government trying to bully us into submission with net zero insanity(anyone who has heard of Ed Milliband knows exactly what I mean), our PM Kier Starmer has gone away for a few days rest and recuperation as he is feeling stressed and jaded, bless him, how does he think that his victims, i.e. the rest of us with his failed economic policies?

Our government could not give a t055 about public perception . So long as they get their bungs that’s all they care about. Life changing loot is being earned by destroying the UK economy.

15 years ago, they disassembled an oil refinery in my canadian province and shipped most of it to Pakistan. The only pieces they left behind were the scrubbers and other assorted parts used to curb pollutants as they had no want or need for that there. Out of sight, out of mind. Tax me harder, please.

The best part is when the new EVs are made in these places. Part of the popularity of Eastern vehicles is down to high enviro standards pushing western factories out of competition, so they just make them in places with next to no enviro standards, thus making the emissions involved in production worse and destroying Euro economies. And of course buying gas at 4x the (former) rate from daddy USA doesn't help Europe much either

I think hybrid vehicles are pretty useless. Used to work in the automotive repair industry. We did a lot of work for Australia Post. As part of policy they started purchasing hybrid vehicles. Spoke to some of the drivers are they said the hybrids ended up using more fuel than their regular petrol vehicles. They lived in more rural areas and said once you got out on the highway the smaller petrol engine of the hybrid would be screaming. This was some time ago so things may have improved. Not sure.

Nope, hasn’t improved. I spoke to a guy yesterday with a new performance hybrid. He’s getting a similar economy to my 20 year old car.

I have been driving hybrid for 15 years and find that my economy is way better in urban situations and about the same for long runs. Not tiny engines tho, a series of Lexus RX hybrids, heavy cars with 3.5l na engines. And never have I experienced a breakdown in that time.

Barrie Cramptons videos show the reality of the sales figures, many of the EVs on sale have been owned between 2 to 12 months before being traded in, some cars that are 3 yrs old have had 4 or 5 owners which is why the sales figures are good, its the same cars being re sold to new gullible customers who quickly learn the horrors of EV ownership.
