We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version kzbin.infoUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

I’ve had the ring doorbell pro for over two years. The cheap rubber/plastic doorbell button has split in three parts. Apparently this is due to weather wear from the sun and cannot be repaired other than replacing the whole unit. On top of the annual subscription to be able to view previous recordings. I am definitely switching to the new netatmo doorbell and am glad they have a proper aluminium doorbell button, though I could see the painted chime icon disappearing over time. I already have the netatmo indoor camera and two outdoor security cameras for a few years, so will all work well together. Thanks for the comprehensive review

Hello, great video! Thanks for the info. I’ve had my eye on this for so long and was finally happy that it was being released. I do have some worries after seeing your review, can you please let me know: 1. What was the audio lag like? I bought an Eve indoor camera and found multiple issues within Eve and home app so I returned it. It could be due to my internet connection. 2. Do you know if the chime controller acts as a transformer. My current doorbell chime is not compatible so I need a new one. What’s not clear is whether I need a transformer or not? Did the chime controller fit inside your chime? Once again thanks for the info and video!
@HomeKitAuthority4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I didn't experience that much lag, but as I said in the video other factors should be taken into account. Wi-FI signal strength is important and it will vary from person to person. In terms of the transformer, you can checkout the compatibility via the Netatmo site. The reason I didn't dig deep into this is because each setup is different and it would be hard to cover it. Hope that helps?

great video jon, i’m a long time subscriber to your channel now and i’ve watched all your videos and was waiting eagerly for this one when i saw your previous update video. i was so ready to buy this, but was really tripped up by the wiring part. my existing doorbell wiring that came with the house was just 2 wires that runs into the house and then u just connect them to a battery operated chime. most doorbell set ups are like that in the country i live in. what i did was to buy an ac to dc power adapter (like the kind meant for ring doorbells) plug it into a socket and separately run it through to the same doorbell button crevice so that when the a proper and not crazy expensive homekit doorbell comes onto the mkt i’d just buy it and hook it up. sadly, it seems this netatmo doorbell will not work for me. i was wondering if a workaround is possible though. this is my plan if i were to get the netatmo. i’d use the power adapter on the netatmo to power it (so yes there will be no sound produced when doorbell is pressed), but then it should still register a doorbell press virtually. if i link that to homepod (or say the aqara hub - i’m not sure if the chime thing works via homekit) to play the sound, then i technically have a working doorbell again. does this make sense? will it work? your thoughts on this setup jon. i’ve got a doorbell button that comes with the house but connected to nothing at the other end and i’m really tired of waiting for a homekit doorbell and i really want the netatmo to work. pls tell me my workaround is viable...

i tried to contact netatmo but can’t coz it seems i have to have a product in order to do so. so based on your knowledge... if i were to just supply dc power (say up to 24v) to the doorbell and just leave it at that and skip all the wiring stuff to the the chime, will it work? the plan is to just use the homepods as the chime. in fact i’ve got no traditional chime at home now. hope u will be able to help. oh also will the above method work with the logitech circle view doorbell too?

I have it now for 4 days and not overly impressed. I love the design. Native app is fine. But I have bought it because of the Homekit integration. And that is, even after almost 2 years since the first announcements, still very buggy. HomePod Chime is not working (I do have Ios14, maybe I need to wait for HomePod update, it is still on 13.4.8), if more than 3 people respond to a call, the doorbell crashes and is unavailable for a while. Not all Applewatches in the house are getting notifications. Live Video quality - even on a very fast WiFi connection not great. Downloaded video is a bit better, but a far cry for FullHD. When contacting support they sort of admitting that this is an issue that they are working on. If you take out the Homekit integration, other doorbell suddenly become more attractive, maybe not for the design but definitely for functionality and quality. I hope future firmware and software updates will improve the doorbell overtime but for now I believe 300 euro is too much for what it offers. And by the way, mine came with a 16GB SD Card, not 32GB. And throw away the screws that came with it, if you need to screw those in hardwood door posts you are ehhh screwed as they will never come out again...
@mennow95784 жыл бұрын
It definitely has some points of improvement. But I’m hopeful there will be enough updates because it is a new product and Netatmo has all attention for it. The Netatmo Presence works very good so they are able to make good products. The doorbell definitely needs improvement on speed of motion detection and recording. It’s so slow it starts recording approximately 1 or 2 seconds after pressing the doorbell button. In that case the person is already in front of the camera for some time.

I'm really torn on waiting for this doorbell for the USA availability versus something from Ring. I already have the Ring Floodlight camera in back. So I know what I'm getting into with Ring. But I've been waiting for a decent HK doorbell...And this is it. But is it worth the wait???? I so mixed right now.....

@@HomeKitAuthority Well the doorbell is the last piece to my HomeKit really... Should I just say screw it, forget HK and buy Ring Pro doorbell now? You said it yourself, you use the security app and not HomeKit. I do that now with Ring. So I think if HSK was already included...I'd probably have no doubts. Without HomeBrdige, Ring doesn't work at all with HK. This one will though....

Just installed. Took about 2.5 hours. The installation process was very straight forward once I’d figured out that my existing doorbell was 8v not 12v. Really impressed with the troubleshooting page in the manual. The different light colours helped me figure out the problem.

I can’t seem to find much wrong with this, as long as it gets HSV at a later date I don’t mind. Mine should arrive in 2 days

@HomeKit Authority. Could the doorbell be wired up to only use HomePod as the chime, removing the need to wire in the physical chime?
@E10254 жыл бұрын
The doorbell is powered via chime wiring so probably not.
@HomeKitAuthority4 жыл бұрын
No, you need the chime and chime controller

With a new build, seems like a waste of money to buy a chime only to disable it. Any insight on whether Netatmo will make one that doesn’t need a chime?
@HomeKitAuthority4 жыл бұрын
Liam Griffith I asked this and they have no plans. Although the doorbell does work via USB that is used for resetting the device. Although I would certainly not recommend this

Hi, do you know if it is possible to use the doorbell's detections as HomeKit trigger for automation? Thanks!
@HomeKitAuthority4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. But as I said in the video, I would not use this as a primary security device. It certainly does not replace a product like the Netatmo smart outdoor camera

Would’ve been nice to hear the audio quality through the doorbell and app. Also, does it recorded and playback both sides of the conversation, not all video doorbells do.
@HomeKitAuthority4 жыл бұрын
It records both sides. But little point demo audio as the speakers on people’s devices would never give a true sound

I’ve had the doorbell since Monday and can’t get it to connect to my WiFi, even when there is an access point within a meter. I think I have a faulty unit but have been very frustrated the last couple of days trying to get it to work..

Very decent and thorough review. I use the Netatmo Smart Outdoor Camera and considered this but got fed up of waiting for it to be released. I ended up getting the Eufy Video Doorbell instead which has an awesome 2k camera, battery, chime and all footage is stored securely locally within the chime. Very happy with it so far, especially as it uses all Amazon Echo's as chimes and I don't have a wired doorbell. Only niggle with it is the poor Echo Show integration (no auto video feed load + 20 sec delay).
