Nice touch to quote Harvey Dent from one of my favorite movie trilogies! 👍 I have not yet switched to a video doorbell (and that's inspite of having several free ones sent over by companies that wanted to partner and integrate their products into our smart research platform). But that could be because I am picky about latency, no subscription fees, no being tied into any manufacturer's ecosystem etc.....and because I am able to replicate most of the features (except the chime) built into video doorbells with regular cameras from Reolink with Blue Iris or even Raspberry Pi with motioneye (and few Twillio and/or Sendgrid routines for notifications) . 🙂 Completely agree with your assessment though (especially for non-geeks like me) about Eufy for budget conscious consumers and the newer Ring Pro for people with extra budget (even though many of my friends are sick of the increasing latency with their older models - planned obsolescence in older models?). Question: What is your thought about any theft deterrent features built into the doorbells you reviewed here? I know there was concern previously about some doorbells getting built in SD card storage to solve the missing 24/7 recording problem but that was defeated if the doorbell could be stolen relatively easily.

This is the second home in which kzbin.infoUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU we've replaced our "regular" doorbell with a Ring video doorbell and we really enjoy it. It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).

Place a heat pad behind the ring setup if wired. It will be a makeshift build but a solution nevertheless. If you want to get fancy you can get an Arduino (or some type of IFTTT trigger) to program it to only kick off at certain low temps. I have a heat pad warm up my lithium batteries at a certain temp automagically.

Nice not to have to pay monthly fees and you can store a ton of video on their base station system.

I just purchased the Wyze doorbell for 2 reasons. 1: I like having multiple chimes in the home and I can choose a different sound for each doorbell. 2: I already have Wyze cams, Wyze plugs, Wyze thermostat, and Wyze lights. So it just made sense to stay with that ecosystem. I don’t mind the delay because right now I have no delay and I have a second cam on my front porch anyway.
@jayharvey92392 жыл бұрын
Wyze products are inexpensive and there is a reason. Wyze has gone downhill as a company. Their customer service is an exercise in frustration. The constant updates risk deteriorating the image quality and function of your older Wyze cameras. They don't support previous versions making all your original Wyze systems obsolete and virtually useless. AND $1.99 per camera per month adds up real fast/ plus a $60. annual fee for their home security Kit.

I have the Wyze Doorbell on my side Door where it's a step up to get in so it's a narrow area and it works perfectly for my needs. I agree that I wish it had a SD card reader but for what I use it for, it's great. On my front door I use the new Ring Wired doorbell and it can see my entire yard, I'm very impressed with the viewing angle and picture quality. The only thing I don't like is the monthly fees for the full functions for both devices. That leaves my back deck and back door with a wireless doorbell/flood lamp to install and you've given some great suggestions.

The wired Ring doorbells (as well as wired Nest Hello doorbells) are great products. HOWEVER, they don't tell you upfront that these wired doorbells all have an internal non-user-serviceable battery. IF you will be using the doorbell with a mechanical chime, just be aware that at some point, the battery inside will fail. The internal battery on these units are used to provide temporary voltage to the doorbell unit when a mechanical chime is used. When someone presses the doorbell button, power is temporarily routed away from the doorbell to the chime inside the house. The battery keeps the doorbell powered for the 1-2 seconds while this happens. Over time, this small battery will be unable to deal with the voltage drop and your doorbell will lose power and reboot itself. If you don't rely on a mechanical chime or if you use the Ring wireless chime, than it won't be an issue. If you do use a mechanical chime, depending on your environment (which includes usage rate, weather, temperature, etc.), the doorbell will stop function properly at some point in time. For most users, it seems to be somewhere between 1-3 years.
@ilyas_khan3 жыл бұрын
If you use a battery powered ring that can also be wired up to provide a trickle charge, would you have this same issue?
@axlahn3 жыл бұрын
@@ilyas_khan I'm not sure if Ring has any battery powered products that can be wired to a mechanical door chime. The ones I'm aware of can be charged by the doorbell wiring but do not have the ability to ring a physical chime besides the wireless electronic chime that Ring sells (and this chime is powered by a standard indoor outlet). But in general, you won't have that issue as any supplemental power for a mechanical chime would come from the replaceable and rechargeable battery which is not present in the Ring Pro / Pro2.
@PR-fk5yb3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this video which is perfect timing for me. One thing is consistently left out even from manufacturers are the physical dimensions of the devices. So far I found that Nest Doorbell is the slimmer. Even then, it's an eigth of an inch too wide to be put on the jamb. I really wish they would be slimmer or had a slimmer adapter especially for the angled installation.

If you want a 24/7 surveillance video go with the Nest. If you want just surveillance of a certain area, go with the Ring. There was a shooting outside of my house where my Ring Pro managed to catch the vehicle through the 30-second camera snapshots but couldn't make out the license or the model of the car because it was at night. Very infomative video. The one that's missing IMHO is the DoorBird. It's pricey but well built hardware, and the nice thing is that it can be used without their (free) cloud service: you can pull the video feed with RTSP, and have the doorbell part work through a SIP telephone exchange like Asterisk. I purchased the Wyze doorbell and I am seriously considering replacing it. By the time you get the notification that someone is at your door, they're already gone. 50% - 60% of the times I try to check the live feed, it won't connect to my wi-fi. I have to restart it to get it to function. Worst of all, every day from 2pm until about 5pm, the sun shines directly on the doorbell, it overheats, and doesn't work at all. Wyze, as a company, needs to find a direction. One month they announce that they are coming out with outdoor wireless cameras, next month they've moved on to robot vacuums and the cameras are forgotten. The month after that they move on to fitness watches and the vacuums are forgotten. They need to find one thing that they are really good at and then get really great at it. Don't just half-ass a project then move on.

@soots-stayingoutofthespotl54953 жыл бұрын
@@Mr.Torres831 I haven't bought yet actually, so let's go through it as we all have different interpretations. Two things first though: none of them are good enough quality really, given what you can achieve with even a cheap £150 Sansco 1080p 4-cam CCTV system from Amazon. But also, I was basing my opinion on the night-time quality mainly, because that's when I'm more likely to have someone come to the door who's not known, not easily-identifiable later (like a delivery driver would be, even from scant detail), or someone who's up to something dubious. *Wyze* - Daytime = Hardly any real detail on face, Night = About the same *Unify* - Daytime = Not enough contrast on face, Night = Next-to-no detail *Ring Pro 2* - Daytime = Not fantastic but definitely better detail/ contrast when subject comes close to cam, Night = Slightly speccly image but definitely more detail *Netatmo* - Daytime = Face too dark again, so although plenty of colour, not much detail, and overall not as crisp an image as the Ring, Night = Similar to the first two *Nest* - Daytime = not enough light/ detail on face, Night - Next to no detail on face. *Eufy* - Aha. I was judging by the brief clip shown here, but having just gone back and watched his dedicated review of that particular doorbell, I have to admit that it's pretty good. Better or worse than the Ring? Probably about even. Frankly, I would have like to have seen the same test done at a location which isn't enclosed like that, and where more natural light during the daytime or light from streetlamps might have helped. In the meantime I shall probably wait for something better to come to the market, as I'm slightly baffled as-to why mobile phones (with similar sized sensors) can give near-professional quality images/ video, yet dedicated security devices such as these can't get anywhere near.

Were you able to get the Eufy to work with Echo Show? Amazon in their infinite wisdom (insert sarcasm here) decided to change all the Eufy cameras to "motion sensor" in the device type. When you go to set up on which Echo devices you want the Eufy doorbell announcement to sound, it shows that "live view" is available along with announcements, but because the Eufy doorbell is set up by default as a motions sensor, Echo does not read it as a camera so there is no live view to be shown. I have seen some people who created a routine for the Echo Show to load up the doorbell, but because it is a routine, it takes much longer and defeats the purpose of having a "smart" doorbell and as added problem, it only shows the image, it does not allow you to talk to the person at the door, which again defeats the purpose of the smart doorbell. Any ideas or suggestions, pretty please?

Wish you would have thrown an arlo in there as well. Other than that one thing this video is amazing, super in depth, detailed, and informative!

Sorry if I missed it, are you using a smart lock on your door?

I haven't put one up yet. I've been wanting to test some more before I decide on one but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

What makes people choose the Unify g4 over the Eufy? Reed mentioned it had poor two way audio too! I’ve got a Eufy but was thinking about getting the G4 for my dads home. Thanks a bunch!

Eufy has a battery only option whereas Ubiquiti do not. I have a 9 inch thick brick wall so no real easy way to route a bell cable to the front door. My last eufy battery lasted 6 months.... I would get the g4 in a heartbeat if they offered a battery option

@@ItzD3fW1sH Ahhh! I thought it was battery powered. You’ve helped me immensely. Thanks very much.

You didn’t go over the notification delay on the phone with the Nest when pressing the doorbell. Was it too slow to put it in the video?

Which system you recommend for a home with a front and rear door?

Hi bro, I should have clarified my question 😂🇨🇦 We have front and back doors in our house. Looking for a quality video doorbells for front and back doors with an iPhone app and none monthly fees. Need to be able to access recordings for the past seven days. We can hardware. What would you recommend. Thank you in advance for your knowledgeable answer. ✅👍🇨🇦

Very nice comparison. One thing that is probably lower-level consideration is mechanical/digital existing doorbells. Support for them and speed at which they ring is important for those of us that have them (I have one that plays music/whatever clips outside). Ring Pro 1 supports them but had a 2-3 second delay before the chime sounded but the Pro 2 is instant.

Great video. Is the Eufy 2 waterproof and will it hold up to summer sun and heat for those that don't have a door over hang?🤔

Been working thru the fl heat with no problem for over a year, even though it has a battery it can still be hardwired.
