I'm glad they got the actual guy who played the cabbage merchant on the cartoon. The fact that even though he's not in it much but they went through the trouble to get the guy who voiced him in the cartoon to play him in live action really warms my heart.

I love that Zuko blows his cover as soon as he learns Aang was the one who took his avatar diary--I mean journal. Also, it's hilarious and awesome that Teo is all "I choose violence" as his characterization and I'm here for it. And most of all, "MY CABBAGES!" XD

I love the way they combined Jet, Sai, and Omashu into one storyline. I think the way they did it was pretty clever

It was! They changed Jet's blowing the dam into blowing the king, but important part of the arc stayed in; that he lost his way due to hatred and vengeance

Respectfully Boom Sentai and Ruff I have to say Ozai instigating competition between azula and Zuko makes way more sense the him favoring Azulla because he's being manipulative to test axulas loyalty not just how evil axula is

Also I forget which episode it is but, when Azula tells him no, he doesn’t try to fight her. If Zuko had done that Ozai would have taken more than his eyes lol. This subtly shows his favoritism

Operation Valkyrie! The suitcase bomb actually did go off, but someone moved it to the other side of the fucking table leg before it did, and just that little extra bit of wood between him and the bomb was enough to shield Hitler from the blast

According to Apocrypha, Hitler did lose his trousers in the blast Edit: the blast tore up the legs of his trousers, but they remained on him. The blast also left him needing to medicate with liquid cocaine for the rest of his life

15:22 regarding the bombing attempt on Hitler: They placed a bomb in a meeting room, that killed the majority of the people in there. Hitler got lucky cause the suitcase with the bomb was moved further away from Hitler by someone who wanted to reach the table they were discussing strategy on better. Hitler also was leaning over the same table during the explosion and was therefore mostly shielded

I was actually delighted by the Fire Nation group at the beginning. I knew they were going to fail and was sad that I knew what their fate would be --- but I was pleased to see that there are revolutionaries within the Fire Nation willing to fight back against their own tyrannical rule. In ATLA, the only Fire Nation revolutionists we got were the few in the White Lotus group - Iroh, Jeong Jeong, and Piandao. It was nice to see others willing to take a stand. I also liked that NATLA (Netflix's Avatar the Last Airbender... spread the new acronym!) made Azula a more complex character right from the start. She's not so much irredeemably evil here. Right from the start, it's portraying a young woman - still a girl really - who is troubled because she wants to meet her even more troubled father's expectations and is begging for his attention and approval. It threw me off at first... but by the end of the season, I loved what they did with Azula's character. As I said, she's just more complex... and more realistic. She still def comes off as having a sadistic side but not to the point of being pure evil like in ATLA.

XD Happy but also not happy we probably won't see those backstories. It's still the first season, so who knows.

Yes I was waiting to see more reactions, yesterday I finished the series even though there was 2 details that I didn’t like but other than that I enjoyed the series hope we get season 2 also I was nervous when people kept saying that actors acting was bad I watched and for me the acting was good, so good thing I didn’t listen to people who dislike it.

@@ecramos95 Yeah me too because I really enjoyed it it doesn’t deserve all the hate like seriously it good even if the original is better still this version is it own like they are a lot of changes which I was fine with little changes I didn’t like but still would still like to see more because of the actors they made me feel that I am watching Avatar but different version at least I like it not like the 2010 movie which I don’t want to remember also death note the movie was a disaster so I am thankful that this is good.

I wish visually they paid more attention to how some of these things look on screen. Namely the wigs and makeup which sometimes are distractingly bad. I feel like they nailed a lot of it and if they get a second season, maybe the CGI and makeup/costumes will be better. I need to see that Toph fight live action... So bad.

The fight scene between Zuko and Aang is now one of my favorites. I don't know if any stunt double was used but if not damn that choreography!!! It is so how Aang fought by evading! I can understand they combined side plots like Jet and the Mechanist for time, just wish it wasn't at Omashu because Omashu is such a big story with King Bumi anyway. But I am not gonna harp too much, there were some great moments during this. Jet's crew fits so well, good actor choices. The Mechanist and his kid look so good. They also had Iroh sacrifice himself for Zuko, even though we don't know the outcome yet (haven't viewed the next episodes yet) it still felt heavy its affect on Zuko. Someone he cares about willingly did that for him. You can see on the actor it had an affect. I am excited how it plays out!

15:34 Also known as the Stauffenberg Attantet (Stauffenberg assassination). The bomb did go off, it did explode. But before it blew up, the briefcase was moved a little, away from Hitler. Thus, Hitler only did get injured, but not killed. You can even see his injury in old recordings, if you compare videos before and after the attempt. Early on, doing the nazi salute, he is stretching his arm like everyone else. After the assassination attempt, he isn't doing that anymore and only lifting it rather closely to his shoulder. So ... eh ... yeah ... didn't expect to write a "The more you know" comment, regarding an assassination attempt towards Hitler under an ATLA react video ... xD

Having watched the whole season, I don’t get the hate online… I expected, and love some changes and additions they make, providing more background or intergrating multiple plotlines into one. Infortunately, I also think they butchered a few storylines and by combining some plotlines and intergrating some things from season 2, making it confusing or loose it’s meaning or message. Overall, I like it and I’m very curious for a season 2!

Its not just Netflix shows that has very noticeable green screen, I feel like a lot of shows don't do "on-sight" shooting anymore so the Green/Blue screen is very noticeable. I wonder if they started it because of the pandemic and found it to be cheaper, so they stuck with it.

I got green screen fatigue from this show, and I think a lot of it was due to the brightness of the costumes. In attempting to accurately replicate a cartoon's look, they make their live-action product cartoonish instead of lived-in.

This is the episode that lost me a little as well but I pushed through a couple more episodes with my son and found the fun in it again. It’s a real shame too because I found some of the performances this episode particularly compelling but maybe it was the green screen use that the gents pointed out that pulled me out of things a bit and started losing me. I came back around midway through episode 5 I think
