Those Netflix Originals just don't hit like they used to.

Orange is the New Black, Stranger Things, and House of Cards all started so strong and then got so bloated and bad. They can’t let me go when they are at their best

So true! I loved all three of those shows and stopped watching them somewhere in the middle. Just lost interest, kept retrying to watch it but couldn't get that interest back. All three of these shows seem to run into writer blocks where they just were mostly recycling the same things just modified a bit.

Great video, your first 30 seconds completely describes my own Netflix experience. Them cancelling several shows I liked also impacted my behavior, since being afraid of a show being cancelled makes me wait for it to be a couple of seasons old before I even started watching it, thus lowering their initial numbers in a weird chicken or egg problem. Thanks for another great essay.

I happily cancelled my subscription a while ago as I hadn't been using it for at least a full year before doing so. The quality of the shows was noticibly declining, there was a serious lack of originality plus there was way too many shows to choose from, I hadn't enough time to browse the content list let alone watch a full season. I'd rather read good books or go to a movie or hang out with friends and so on. Much better !

Just some editing advice at 2:20 in your video slow the scroll down a bit, it's kind of harsh on the eyes and viewers can't really take in much of the info. Love your vids!

I’ve been with Netflix since the beginning. The main issue is that the leader ship has turned the platform into a engine for propaganda. A lot of their original content sucks, there’s no other way to say it.

I think it’s quite the office it, they are suffering because of the quality of their original content. They cancel the stuff the people actually like and promote the stuff that serves as political propaganda.

I don't think I'd describe House of Cards as original content.... What with it being a remake of the BBC TV show.... Which was itself an adaptation of a book series

Netflix has backpeddled in their new fee model for account sharing... In the US. We just learned that they are continuing with this fee in Canada. I'm already tired of Netflix for many of the reasons you stated in this video, even though it's already a year old (am I just watched it now). I'm not a fan of Stranger Things, post season 1, and the same can be said for The Witcher. The one thing holding me on is... Gabby's Dollhouse. My daughters love that show. Darn it.

Teenage Bounty Hunters, great first episode and kept getting better through the first season. Great show in every way, the writing was unique and funny, excellent comedic acting and characters. boldly straddling conservative Southern Christianity with modern ideas. First season ended with a world-class cliffhanger that could have easily made two or three more top quality seasons but Netflix never gave it a chance. That was the final straw for me with Netflix I'm out.

Albeit Netflix has some great content like Stranger Things (I like season 4 so far) and also some really good foreign produced content like Dark (Germany) and Kingdom (South Korea) or Ragnarok (Norway). But tbh, more than half of Netflix content just sucks like e.g. the life action Cowboy Bebop or the infamous movie Cuties. Another isse why is Netflix bleeding customers is caused by crap nobody gives a flying fart about like Emily in Paris, Chasing Cameron and Super Drags.

Netflix has a problem with Romanticism. The-hero-that-strives is a genre lost on most writers especially those now writing for Netflix or HBO. Instead they write stilted storylines with a ham fisted insertion of a du jour woke bromide. Even a poorly written hero story jumps up the ratings due to the lackluster competition. I have a subscription to Netflix mainly so I can watch Highwaymen and Moneyball again and again.

Netflix management displays a stunning lack of vision for their evolving business model. They originally succeeded in their space mostly by being first. What quality content they have I've watched and with each "coming soon" update, I fail to find anything interesting. I'm holding on for season 6 of Better Call Saul in Canada, then I'm done.
