I think the big problem with the Netflix shows has been length. You can't easily show off all the fun characters the Transformers universe has to offer in 6 20 minute episodes per season (And only 3 seasons). That's just not enough time.

I actually like optimus prime in this series. Most interpretation of prime show him has one dimensional. Especially for Superman type character shows that he is layered and still learning and trying to be better. He still messes up I like that he is not this messiah type character.

I just want to share my personal experience, which is the fact that this show has convinced more people I know to take an interest in Transformers, than anything in the last 20 years. And that, I believe, is because it takes the world, the characters and the whole concept seriously and unironically. It bathes in Transformers lore unashamedly and that's infectious. The gritty presentation and war drama helps sell the idea that this is in fact way way more than a toy commercial. Which is the opposite of the impression Cyberverse, or RID2015 leave people. All those years, I've been telling my friends that the Transformers I am invested in, doesn't have much to do with those shows for toddlers on TV or the movies. And this show exists to prove that. If we turn our backs to this effort, Hasbro will never trust this fandom's intelligence, or this concept's potential for meaningful storytelling ever again.

Ironically I've seen the opposite. Cyberverse is the one pulling in new fans, whereas WFC tried to pull in 80s fans and failed. We might be frequenting different social circles, but I've seen the exact opposite

I know you said that a flaw of this series is that it is not designed to bring in new fans. Thankfully (I think) it got at least one! I'm trying to get into transformers and this is the first thing I watched. I liked it enough to finish it but I can definitely tell that it's not very well written. I don't know the characters or understand the references, but since I like the convoluted mess that is Bionicle I just kinda went with it. Watched a few "transformers lore for beginners" vids along the way to try to understand. Wondering what I should watch next to become more familiar with the story (or read ig but reading is hard)

In My Opinion. Optimus Prime represents everything wrong with this dub. Hence why I separated the English and Japanese dub into two characters (Virgin Prime and Chad Convoy). The most clear example of this his talk with Megatron

Well, earthrise has view things That could been done better, like Skylinx retrospecktive scenes..... (and Im mean the quality and editing of those shots, not the context). But I agree, it done things better them Siege. But sometimes Im still suprized how they did some of the things theru did, like Stelljaw appirence.. First of WHY STEELJAW? This show is still a toy commercial to some degree so why bouther with character that isn t in your toyline (especially if you not gonna give him the right color. LIKE SYRIESLY, the whole backroude is nothing more them recolors and they couldn t bouther to paint him yellow? ) Why I point this out, because they used there limited time to introduce Steeljaw, a character thats gonna die and has no toy represantetion. BUT THEY COULDN T BOUTHER WITH NAMING SCRAPFACE ON SCREAN! A character quite relevent to the Elita-1 plot, plus with figure in Netflix line... And don t even get me started on the fakt they didn t bouther on showing Alicons (you known, ONE OF NEW FIGURES TO PROMOTE FOR THIS LINE), but they made a whole army of white Ironhide recolors...

A lot of that is due to budget. CGI is cheaper in the long run, but making models on the outset takes time and costs extra. Its much cheaper to reuse existing models. Its the same reason why many of the characters don't transform. I think it's annoying that they didn't give the show the budget it needed, but I get why it is the way it is

Plus times like itroducing characters like Steeljaw, or Dread wing in siege (Steeljaw, especially, like if they not going to even give him a right color, they could at least call him Knok, he at least was in the toyline and wouldn t make a diffrence. Plus in case you sayed something along the lines of "it is exclusive so it doesn t count" Exouste, Bugbite and Scrapface where used in the show, so this EXCUSE won t fly)

I say it's far better than Siege, but still not in the Great Spectrum of the franchise, like animated, prime or Beast wars. For me, Earth Rise is more in the Good next to Pretty Good Spectrum, like Armada and RID 2001.

As I've replied to the other comments, my issues go beyond the dubbing. Plenty of anime are better written this, because good writing transcends translation. I just can't agree that that's the only issue, when the best arcs are dropped in favour of focusing on the worst one, consistency is thrown out of the window because they have scenes they want to cram in and setpieces are mostly dull due preferences of being 'edgy' over actually interesting. Least that's my stance. We can disagree on this, but my issues hold firm beyond just the voice direction.
