Yes, it's cheesy. Yes, it's cliche. Yes, it's formulaic. And yes, it is by no means original. But you know what? It's still a great movie, especially around christmas time. The cheesiness and cliche just makes it more endearing and funny, and it really helps me get in the mood for the holidays. I think it may be one of my favorite Christmas movies.

Isn't The Parent Trap based on the German children's book Lottie and Lisa? I actually really loved this movie even though it was so unrealistic. 2 days to fall in love? Really? I know Cinderella and the Prince fell in love in like 30minutes, but still, 2 days is way too short. They barely know each other and they are already getting engaged. And I thought my friends that got engaged after 9months were crazy.

Everyone mentioning The parent trap, and I’m like that wasn’t even original! It was based on Erich Kastner’s book Lottie and Lisa (literally The double Lotties) from 1949, which already had a movie version in 1950!
