I personally didn't find it all that novel. The public being desensitized by violence in horror movies ain't new, neither is the concept of a fake snuff film or the subversion of horror movie tropes. I found the film to be a less clever and far more exposition-heavy version of Scream and The Cabin in The Woods. The mafia involvement subplot was given 0 attention and it felt like a missed opportunity. I still liked it just fine thanks to some of the characters and the kills, and also because the twist regarding a certain character did caught me by surprise.

Depends on what way you look at it. If it had painted the screen in “5 star reviews” with generic quotes such “the best horror movie of our time!”, “the scariest move you’ll ever see!”, “truly phenomenal!” I’d agree with you. But I’m getting a cabin in the woods kind of concept here with Saw, Midsommer and various other horror movie elements. It could be fun, hopefully.

Without spoilers, I liked it. The cinematography was great, colors, camera angles, music etc... There were scenes that I absolutely loved. The art department did a great job. I guess with the premise of the movie you're trying to "figure out" what this movie is and that's where it loses people. The negative reviews I'm seeing are talking about how it was doing too many things, it's not original, or that the original wasn't in English and the dubbed version took them out of the moment. The meta commentary seemed spot on. Yes there were flaws, no it's not one of the top horror movies. I see movies to entertain myself and it succeed.

I think this film is a mixture of: 1. Wolf creek : because they are trying to go somewhere and are trapped 2. Cabin in the Woods: because they found a Cabin in the Woods 3. Midsommar: They are trapped in a cult, and the way they eat at the dinner table is exactly the same 4. Wrong turn: because there are a lot of victim cars in that place 5. Scare Campaign: in-film shooting and lots of twists featured 6. Leatherface : wearing a goat mask 7. Revenge : Because it's about a woman's revenge, where the cast is the same as the revenge movie 8. Get out/Us : Because there's a lot of criticism and innuendo in it maybe someone has something to add? If you think this film is not creative enough, that's the point. their goal is to critique all classic horror films according to their title. But personally I enjoyed it and this film is worth watching for gore and horror fans

I'm just a little pessimistic about horror movies nowadays. It's so hard to find an actual good one. Most of the time if you watch a horror movie on mute it's not scary at all, it's all just loud volume hikes. I'm still really in love with the Witch for how creepy and unsettling it was without seeming to try very hard or use cheap tricks.

This movie was somewhat similar to the 2018 movie “the ritual”. Wasnt too bad. But i preferred the ritual.

This movie is the ultimate troll/publisity stunt of Netflix.The title,the ending(whoever saw the movie knows what i am talking about).Anyway this was A CLASSIC HORROR STORY.I am so happy that Netflix created this movie to troll the 90% of horror movies nowdays.Because come on let's face it.Most of them are like this.A group of people goes into the woods,each victim is killed with a very brutal way and in the end there is the lead actor(actually actress in this kind of movies) who survives!

A good movie. Good atmosphere, many references to classic movies just as promised, plus some new (as in not used before in movies) italian folklore and a nice ending after a twist! Maybe not so scary, but the scary part is that stuff like this might be happening all the time

Trailer looks promising. A mixture of "Cabin in the Woods" and "Midsommar"
