Proof that animation is a far superior medium for video game/comic book tv/movie adaptations than live action.

This has always been the case. Unfortunately, in terms of production, its a hell of a lot cheaper to do live action than it is animation. Few game developers are willing to spend the money for animation over live action. Borderlands was a prime example. Considering how successful Borderlands was/is, Gearbox should have had more than enough money and sway to find a good animation studio willing to animate the movie in the traditional Borderlands style. But Gearbox very obviously didn't want to spend the money for an animation studio, and then they have the gall to be confused as to why their fans absolutely shat all over the movie.,

@@azurblueknights I agree with your take 100% for the majority of cases. We live in a world that revolves around profits, so without a doubt most cases are about saving money. However, I do think there are some cases where they legitimately thought live action would be better (not cheaper, but actually better). Borderlands easily could have been one of those cases given the amount of stars they cast. Granted it would probably save them even more money to only have those actors for voiceover work. Personally I think they chose live action to try and relate to the general audience, which might have worked if they had not made a movie that (from what I hear) is a complete mystery to anyone who didn't play the games - so who knows what they were thinking.

@@azurblueknights I'm really not sure where you got the idea that it is cheaper to do live action than animation? Even your comparison of Arcane and Borderlands shows that to be wrong. Arcane is one of the most expensive animated series and it cost 90 million while Borderlands had a budget of around 120 million and it is by no means a contender for being an expensive movie. We are also talking about roughly a 6 hour runtime for Arcane and less than 2 for Borderlands. Fans didn't have an issue with Borderlands being live action, it was the generic plot, poor humour, odd casting choices, PG rating and ignoring the source material. I firmly believe the movie would have done much better if they have created original characters, leaving the existing ones to supporting or cameo roles. Basically, use the same 'set in the Borderlands world' concept as Tales from the Borderlands. That said, I do agree that an animated series that follows the games plot and art style would absolutely be something I would love to see. Especially if they brought back Anthony Burch to write. Each season could follow an individual game's plot. It would allow them more time to delve into the character's motives, relationships and past. There could even be episodes that revolve around the better DLC's. Imagine episodes devoted to Knoxx's armory, Tiny Tina's AoDK, Claptastic Voyage or Krieg's Fustercluck. Done right, I think they could easily get a major deal from one of the streaming services. Sadly, it's unlikely to happen. Lionsgate is kinda calling the shots and they don't really do much with animation, even if they still had faith in the property after the poor performance of the movie.

@@MrChipMC Personally I disagree as I have seen time and time again that my preferences lean more to animations. For me, animation seems to forgive the silliness of the content where live action seems to enhance it. This is why I said that I think animation is superior for adaptations of certain content (games, comic books/graphic novels, etc.). I originally had this thought when I watched the Netflix Castlevania animated series. Some of the scenes are epic, but would look ridiculous if they attempted to do it in live action. Fast forwarding, now I see it everything. Imagine Arcane in live action. It might still be a good story and worth watching, but it would be missing some of the iconic visuals. But to your point, a bad script/story is like polishing a turd - in the end, regardless of how nice you make it look, it is still a turd.

yea, i dont think she is doing this for the undercity like what silco was doing. but thing is, undercity has been in a bad spot for a long time and council/piltovians/enforcers were the bad guys in zaun's perspective. they needed someone crazy enough, like jinx, to attack back. there was never gonna be a peace settlement with power hungry piltovans. im really excited to see how the story unfolds but im rooting for the underdogs of zaun this season

If cait's mom is gone and jayce, mel, and Viktor are injured that not only leaves a power vacuum in piltover/zaun, but also makes it easier for her enemies to gain hextech access and at best neutralize her, at worst, leave her slaughtered with her eyes closed. Besides, with Mel's death they wouldn't have paid off the creation of life parallel between jayce and mel and Viktor and the hexcore, amongst others. I don't know how they can tie up all of these threads satisfactorily in just one more season, but I'm hoping they don't abandon all of the beautiful setups they created s1. If they do it'll definitely effect how I consume future projects since the studio itself has selected to end the series themselves

Viktor most likely will be the center piece of this season, and even the title Arcance could be related directly to him. Thus why we don't get a lot of info about him. 1:11 explosion could be Viktor after completion and the Arcane waking up, people who joined the "evolution", or whatever similar the choose to do with the lore.

Viktor will be entirely connected to the Arcane if not being the Arcane so he will definitely be important but Jayce is most probably dead

Unless it is actually Jayce's death what makes Viktor go off rails as it was his only human connection aside of the woman dying oon the first season so he embraces his new given powers.

Season 1 was just an introduction of characters for the actual story that we will see this season. Jayce and Viktor could be centre pieces for this season, thus why they are not revealing much about them.

@@tismejaytee They definitely didn't die. How, I don't know. Even if it was implied on the first episodes of season 2. We still have Viktors glorious evolution ahead. Viktor is THE Arcane. Jayce can´t die because he will have to see Vitkor changes and deal with whatever that means for their friendship, which won't last much more likely. If Jayce is not there, there are not many interesting characters who care about him to make the plot interesting and the connections.

I also saw something about the mystery child that's looks similar to Powder, and I read that this child gets close to Jinx, and then the child dies?. That would be worse than Jinx or Ekko dying imo. I think season 2 is going to rip me to shreds.
