Couldn't watch the film in theatres since it was banned in Gulf. Finally watched it. It was nothing like Top Gun but was awesome. Shame that our audience couldn't see past their own preconceived notions. The marketing of the film wasn't good enough either. Nevertheless, this was an awesome movie. It made 300 cr+ overall in the end. Hrithik in particular was simply awesome.

I blamed people who didn't watch it due to some preconceived notion about it being a remake of Top Gun and didn't even give it a chance. And I complained about not being able to watch the movie in the Gulf.

Myself a South Indian, I feel sad for the prejudice and biasness this movie faced from the audience, especially from South. Irony is, these days South movies are repetitive, forgettable & disposable, however they are recieved better anyway indiffrent of its quality. "Hype" really works, but not sure for how much long. Just make it part of an established franchise, rope in big actors, or slap the name of a God on it, it works seamelessly. Plus the privilege of being South. Major directors from South seems to be slient on this movie as they can't compete with the technical quality showcased by this movie at such a low budget. (underwhelming Operation Valentine must be a factor too). Hate and abolishing the movie is not the answer to competition. It seems petty & silly. Kudos to Bollywood on this one. This movie worked well in overseas markets.

If anything the real blame for copying, that too in an inferior way should be put on Operation Valentine. There is a reason why Fighter worked in overseas markets, while the Operation Valentine was done & dusted within in a even in India itself.
